I'm trying to compile SkunkDAV on Windows2000.
I've got Ant and Jikes working, I had to take out all
the calls to the Assertion stuff because of it now
being a reserved keyword in Java, but now Jikes, at
least I think Ant is using Jikes, is complaining
about...

*** Error: The final variable "retNode" is not a blank
final in this context, so it may not be assigned.

Not sure what to do about this? I've attached my
Ant compile log with the error.

Thanks

    This problem has existed for some time. It used to be that
    jikes would compile the code in question and javac wouldn't;
    then later versions of jikes either wouldn't compile it or
    would produce unworking code. I've torn out the nasty code
    and removed the absurd threading, and now you should have no
    problem -- just get the code from CVS.
