My idea for doing this would be a general mechanism to
'glue' nodes of objects together, similar to what you
have in, say, dia. I have thought about that off and
on, but I haven't really come up with a good way to
integrate it with Sketch's current object model and
user interface

I think a better approach might be to allow some sort of "computed
points", as inspired by geometry interaction programs (e.g.,
Dr. Geo/Dr. Genius <http://ofset.sourceforge.net/drgenius>). But I
only have the vaguest ideas how that might work.
