On WinXP-SP3, SciLab 5.4.0 installed fine.
Downloaded SIVP 0.5.2 Win binary and unzipped to a spare dir: sivp-0.5.2
Copied that folder to C:\Program Files\scilab-5.4.0\contrib\sivp-0.5.2
Started SciLab - no "tool box" option window appeared and cannot see a windows installer GUI as described.
Based on the SIVP readme notes, I went to the SciLab console.
Changed to the /contrib folder
Did an: exec('builder.sce') and the SIVP process starts then immediately fails:
Building gateway… error 4 …. If ~MSDOS then … Undefined variable: MSDOS
Is there some environment variable that needs to be set for SIVP to install ?
Where is the windows GUI installer interface ?
Any clues ?
Thanks,
Dave

Well, finally found the "Atoms" interface and an earlier version of SIVP is installed and running. However, the toolbox help (FNs) seems to be missing and I still can't install the later version - but at least something is working a bit.
Coming from years with the Matlab environment, I'm also frustrated with the terse information associated with SciLab and SIVP. I know, SciLab is free, so I'm not complaining from that perspective - just noting it's difficult for the beginner - even with years of experience.
