It is surely interesting; I'd suggest to try the -R option for making
nodes act as routing proxies (instead of redirecting).

With such tools you can do simulations in the strict sense of the term
(i.e. opposed to emulations, testbeds);  they are definitely worth
doing, but it is not clear to me how they relate to sipdht.  Or are you
planning to simulate the implemented algorithm
(http://sipdht.sf.net/algo.html)?
