What's so wrong with using ADOdb?  Having a DB abstraction layer gives 
the user flexibility to deploy Simplog using whatever RDBMS they wish.  
It also alleviates a lot of work for us developers in getting Simplog to 
work with multiple DBs.  Megacorporation trap?  ADOdb is an open source 
database abstraction library.

not particularly, but what's the alternative to using ADOdb that you are 
suggesting?
