I had a Western Digital 500MB My Book disk that was connected to a Windows XP box for backing up Windows files using Norton Ghost. I copied files over to windows from a Linux box, where I am doing some major work. This process worked for a while, but started failing when the Windows box got low on disk space. I was pleasantly surprised when the My Book worked on first try connecting to Linux. I then started looking for a simple backup scheme to use -- something less complicated than Ghost. SimpleBackup seems to be just what I needed.
I hope others will continue to use SimpleBackup and this forum. What few glitches I had were solved by reading forum posts.
