Welcome to the Simple DICOM Storage Service!

What's a DICOM anyway?

It's a medical imaging standard. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DICOM

Why not use DCMTK?

Sure, do it. http://dicom.offis.de/dcmtk.php.en

It's not really windows friendly but with some DOS or PERL wrappers people have made it work.

So what can the Simple DICOM Storage service DO?

  • Store files sent by DICOM modalities (or tools) over the network and write them to disk.
  • Receive on many ports as you'd like.
  • Run as a windows service so you can easily host dicom storage agents on VM's throughout your network or in the cloud.
  • Decompress or compress files on receipt.

Who is the target audience?

  • It's great for development/testing organisations who work with medical imaging devices.
  • It can be used as a drop point for modality backups.
  • You could write CD's from it I suppose.

How do I configure this thing?

See the [Configuration] page. At this point we're doing XML - a gui will follow.
