Hello: I am trying to integrate simplecaptcha into my web application. When I try to follow the instruction on the custom images page, my results differ highly from the expected output. I tried this simple example: Captcha captcha = new Captcha.Builder(WIDTH, HEIGHT) .addText() .build(); But the image I get has very hard to read text. See the attached example. Any ideas what went wrong? Thanks, Neil -- Neil Aggarwal, (972) 834-1565 We lend money to investors to buy or refinance single family rent houses. Hi, Does anyone know where I might find the ECCN # / Export License information for use of SimpleCaptcha for Java 1.5 (simplecaptcha-1.2-jdk1.5.jar), or any point of contact for it? Thanks, John Miller |

Hi, I'm trying to use Simple Captcha for use on an iPad but have run into an issue where the iPad says "Cannot play audio file." In the area where the <audio></audio> should be. When I browser you site the audio wave files play but I suspect those are wave files that have been saved to a hard drive vs. generated on the fly. Is there something special I need to do to get you great little library to work on a iPad? Thanks -Pete |

Hi! I am very happy using your product, and i'd like to add it as dependency to maven build process. Can you please tell me - did you publish your code to some maven repository i could take it from? Thank you! -- Regards, Vladimir I. |

Hello, I have implemented the SimpleCaptcha in my JSP pages, as described here: http://simplecaptcha.sourceforge.net/installing.html It works well with IE7, Firefox, Safari, Opera. But I noticed that it does not work with IE8: an Exception is thrown, IIRC in the method ... if (captcha.isCorrect(answer)) { ... } I don't have my code at hand here right now, but I remember the exception sais something like "The response is already commited, can't modify it." The same also happens when I try to run the example code: http://sourceforge.net/projects/simplecaptcha/files/SimpleCaptcha/1.1.1/sc.war/download I am not very familiar with the IE8, but I know it has some new feature called "Privacy Mode" (or whatever), which might or might not have an impact on this issue (I haven't checked whether it is enabled or disabled in my case, I just stumbled over it when googling for "IE8 broken session" or so. I also came across http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/05/06/session-cookies-sessionstorage-and-ie8.aspx which talks about "session merging". The fact that also JCaptcha fails (http://jcaptcha.sourceforge.net/) with similar behaviour makes me think that the issue is really with IE8. So my hope is more like "Is there a known workaround"? For example implementing my captcha response verification in a Servlet instead of a JSP page? Are there any options I can/should enable in my JSP page (for example, as to NOT "commit" the 'response' instance or so?)? The following "live example" demonstrates the issue, at least with IE8 I could not Sign Up with the JCaptcha site (which is protected with their own implementation of JCaptcha ;) : http://forge.octo.com/jcaptcha/jira/secure/Signup!default.jspa I did not find any "live example" on the net which uses SimpleCaptcha though. Anyone else experienced issues with IE8 and SimpleCaptcha? Is it merely a question to "set some Internet Options" in IE, e.g. disable "Privaty Mode" (I don't think it is enabled in my case, I never changed any settings, and IE8 was installed automatically on my machine at home. Hi! In a project I work on, some problems with refreshing the captcha image on the web page were reported. There is a web page with a simple form, having one entry field for the captcha string and a submit button (and a captcha image). If the entered string does not match, the same page is displayed, with a new, different captcha string. It was reported, that in some case the same captcha is displayed over and over again. I checked myself, but is all seemed in order, the captha was new for each reload. I only noticed one weirdness: On the first occasion, when I hit submit and the page redisplayed, for about one second, the old captcha image was displayed, then it was replaced with a new one. I looked into the HTTP header for the captcha image and saw that there are no cache control or related tags, like: - LastModified - ETag - Praga / Cache-Control So the questions are: - is the setup OK? What about wev browser client with aggressive caching? - should there be some HTTP headers setup? - if yes, where? Does the simplecaptcha have some configuration for this or should this be handled by the container? If it matters, we use as relatively old version simplecaptcha-20071121 and updating is not that easy (big project ...) Regards, David |

Hi, I am developping a web site in J2EE/Struts 2 and I'm using simplecaptcha for the registration. I have encountred a problem while displaying the captcha. this is my jsp page containing the captcha: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <html> <body> <s:form action="Logon" method="POST"> <tr> <td colspan="2"> Login </td> <s:textfield name="cardNumber" label="Card Number"/> <s:password name="password" label="Password"/> <tr> <td> <img src="Captcha.jpg"/> </td> <td> <input type="text" name="response"/> </td> </tr> <s:submit value="Submit" align="center"/> </s:form> </body> </html> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and this is the execute method of my Logon action public String execute() throws Exception { HttpServletRequest request = ServletActionContext.getRequest(); HttpSession session = request.getSession(); setResponse((String)session.getAttribute("response")); /* * Verification of the captcha response */ String captchaResponse = (String) session.getAttribute(nl.captcha.servlet.Constants.SIMPLE_CAPCHA_SESSION_KEY); String parm = getResponse(); if (captchaResponse != null && parm != null) { if (!captchaResponse.equals(parm)) { setResponse("error"); return INPUT; } } /* * end of verification */ return SUCCESS; } ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I first load the jsp page, it shows a captcha, but if I give a bad response and click on submit, the page doesn't display another captcha. and when I click a second time on "submit", another captcha is displayed. and whatever how many times I click on "submit" without giving a response, the servlet displays a new captcha each time. to be brief, the captcha doesn't appear when I load the page for the second time, but it shows on all the other times. what can I do to fix this? best regards --------------------------------- Ne gardez plus qu'une seule adresse mail ! This is kind of a redundant question for sourceforge. The reason I ask is that the license information shows None. Thanks arjun |

Can we expect to receive notification via Mailing List if a flaw to this tool is ever identified? I'm monitoring the forums, but looking for that extra mile. =20 =20 Thanks for your time. Matthew |
