I needed to consume and process a Wordpress blog export today. The "WXR" (Wordpress eXtended Rss) format turned out to be a nice easy extension to add to the current codebase of Simple-RSS. So, when v3 hits the streets it will support three formats: plain ol' RSS, iTunes compatible podcast feeds and Wordpress blog exports.
First milestone on the path toward version 3.0 of Simple RSS has been reached. The build process has been overhauled and code committed to CVS. Eagle-eyes readers will also note the tentative move toward a new license - from GPL to the GPL compatible (but far more business-friendly) BSD license.
Intrepid early adopters are welcome to pull the code for version 3.0-RC1 from CVS. Bug reports and feedback welcome.... read more
Version 3.0 of Simple RSS (due in early September '09) will bring full support for both plain RSS (website oriented) feeds and also ITunes compatible Podcast RSS feeds, a new build process based on maven, and greatly improved unit test coverage.
