Hi list, I'm using my SIMpad primary as X-terminal. The GPE image fits very good. My problem is, this X-server is quite unstable and tends to crash at least every 15 minutes when using apps like kpdf or konqueror (even more often when using the GPE scratchbook). Recently I've tried to update the packages using the familar unstable feed. After some problems with ipkg itself and a lot of trouble with the packages overwriting config-files I've modified myself I finally got my SIMpad updated. After a reboot (I thought it would be good because of libc6 got updated) the bootloader is now unable to find the kernel image... So before flashing 0.90rc1 again I ask if someone could provide a more recent GPE image? Thanks very much in advance! Greetins, Markus |

Hello, I just made images+ipkg available with a more recent kernel than 0.9rc (which was 2.4.25). I ported the patches from 2.4.25 to 2.4.27, with the following additions: - simpad-proc-sys-board.patch (/proc/sys/board patch from Till Harbaum) - simpad-serial.patch (to get access to the internal; serial port, am I right Guylhem?) - mppe-20040216.patch (add MPPE encryption for PPP) - 2.4.27-mh1.patch (bluetooth patches from Marcel Holtmann) If you have any other patches to add to this list, I could add them in a future build. There are images available for opie, GPE and E The GPE packages include minimo, firefox & thunderbird for your own testing pleasure. Available from http://devernay.free.fr/hacks/opensimpad/ Feedback is welcome, except for problems with getting files from the web site (I'm not responsible for that, just try again) Fred |

The internal serial port worked in earlier versions. I made a patch to add proper rtc/cts/dtr support. Is it that patch you added? > If you have any other patches to add to this list, I could add them in a > future build. I had a patch for some opie lib, that prevented opie from switching off dect/bluetooth power when booting into opie. Is this included? I'll check your version as soon as possible and it's nice to hear, that my patches are being used. Ciao, Till -- Dr.-Ing. Are you sure that minimo, firefox, thunderbird is included in this image? I couldn't find it! I wanted to load different images (e.x E-image) but I have an error "flash not erased" during copying a new image. Could you tell me how properly load another image? Best regards Piotr |

I couldn't find it! i just build a fresh GPE image using OpenEmbedded. The latest default images include the GtkWebcore based gpe-mini-browser which should fit even in small 16mb flash. Right - if someone is interested: My image for the SL4 is here: http://www.kernelconcepts.de/~fuchs/files/gpe-image-simpad-20051005210713.rootfs.jffs2 Except of the power button it seems to work fine. I could try to build a similar one for CL4/T-Sinus Pad, but i can't test it. So I couldn't test the gpe-mini-browser yet. Can you please fix this? geron |

WLAN driver (my card is Orinoco clone) is working for me but it looks that gpe-mini-browser doesn't work properly (I managed to view only one simple web page. More complicated pages are just blank). More complicated pages are just blank). Even more interesting, its quite some time ago i have seen this effect. Some additional information might be interesting - e.g. which websites caused this effect. I guess one reason might be a missing pixbuf loader. E.... actually now I'm realized that it wasn't your image but my own built from OE sources but: I didn't installed nothing special. Just bitbake gpe-bilbo-image (custom build with removed gpe-pim-task and some other unneded stuff, only english localces), flash it. > > that gpe-mini-browser doesn't work properly (I managed to view only o= ne > > simple web page. I guess one reason might be a missing pixbuf loader. Near every web page, I was trying www.lodz.pl, lodz.pl, www.google.pl. The only page I've managed to load was my web page ;-) http://pc-bilbo.man.lodz.pl Regards Piotr |
