Whenever I start SIM it tries to connect to ICQ but then it crashes:
"sim.exe hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beendet werden." etc.
What can I do?
I never found a way to re-animate SIM if it crashes directly at startup. But in your case, it seems that the crash appears right after logging in, not starting SIM.
There might be an offline message that wants to pop up, but contains invalid code that causes SIM to crash. This can be HTML-Sourcecode that is sent via SIM like <a <>. Check this possibility by logging in to ICQ on http://go.icq.com/.
If this is not the source of your problem, your profile might be corrupt. Try renaming it to something like "sim old" and restart SIM; your find your profile in c:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\<USERNAME>\Anwendungsdaten\sim. SIM then creates a new profile, you must re-enter your ICQ Login data.
But SIM might still crash, I had this problem on some Computers after quite a time it did not make any problems. I never got the installed version to work again, not even after uninstalling, removing profile and installing again. The only way to deal with it was to download the latest CVS Binary (take a look at BerliOS (http://sim-im.berlios.de/ )for current releases); these versions should work fine with your old profile.
Hope that I could help you.
