Dear All, We are pleased to announce the availability of a test release of OpenOffice with Graphite support. The program can be downloaded from: http://scripts.sil.org/OOo_20_graphite (127MB) where there are also instructions on how to get a patch version for Ubuntu hardy (17MB) and on reporting bugs. OpenOffice with Graphite support is an exciting solution to a long standing problem and to encourage those of you who may not think you would have much need for it, this version supports font features which will allow you to choose your style of capital Eng in Doulos SIL, for example. The test period runs for a month and will end 28th Sept, so please download this test release and hammer on it. Notice that if you find general OpenOffice bugs, we won't be rushing to fix them, but we are interested in those involving graphite fonts or non-graphite fonts that do strange things that they don't do in normal OpenOffice. Thank you in anticipation for your involvement. Yours, Martin Hosken |

Dear All, This is to announce the immediate availability of an interim bug release of Graphite v2.2.1. The source is available from http://scripts.sil.org/svn-public/graphite/graphite/tags/graphite-2.2.1 and has been built for ubuntu feisty (i386 is now available others will follow) at "deb http://packages.sil.org/ubuntu feisty main" The release will be appearing on latest versions of Debian shortly. Backports to earlier versions are unlikely due to dependencies on pango packaging which are only in pango 1.16 on Debian. Any backport needs to take pango with it. We hope that pango will be changed (yet again) to make packaging with Graphite easier. This release includes: . 30% speedup . Right To Left text working in pango-graphite . double diacritic type glyph height working in pango-graphite . various minor bug fixes Yours, Martin |

I am happy to announce that WorldPad 2.0 has been released and is now
available on the web site at:
scripts.sil.org/WorldPadDownload
This version of WorldPad is compatible with the most recent, official
release of the Doulos SIL font (i.e., version 4.0.10 rather than 4.0.04).
The biggest change to the program is a rework of the Writing Systems
Properties dialog to use ISO and Ethnologue language identifier codes. Also
full paragraph justification is now supported.
Unfortunately you'll notice that the installer is quite large. Also there
are several other modules that you may need to install separately if you
don't have them already.
If you have WorldPad 1.6 installed, it is best to uninstall it before
installing 2.0. If you have trouble with this process, please contact us.
Enjoy!

Folks: I am happy to announce that Project SILA reach the Beta2 quality today. The Beta2 Release Candidate 1 is available for download now. Please help us by download it, install it and test it. It includes the latest silgraphite source (dated 20030625) and is based on Mozilla 1.4 rc3 (build seperately in the same source with modification to integrate with silgraphite) Some of my friends in sil.org will start more official testing on it starting next week. I hope all of you can test it too. If there are no major bugs got found in the next two weeks, we will declare this build Beta2. Otherwise, we will have RC2, RC3 to address major issues. You can find the info about SILA Beta2 RC1 here - > <A HREF="http://sila.mozdev.org/silab2.html">http://sila.mozdev.org/silab2.html</A> It will be nice if some one can regression test against the fixed bug listed under <A HREF="http://sila.mozdev.org/bugs.html">http://sila.mozdev.org/bugs.html</A> to verify the issues are gone. If you find any issue, please file bug in <A HREF="http://sila.mozdev.org/bugs.html">http://sila.mozdev.org/bugs.html</A> make sure you select "sila" as your component when you file new bugs and leave the assignee as empty Please feel free to forward to your friend who can help to test complex script rendering SILA Project Owner Frank Tang |

The Graphite web page has been substantially reworked. There are links for downloading the latest versions of the software. Note, however, that each version of WorldPad has a slightly different installation process. Please refer to the readme file for instructions. Sharon |

There is a new version of WorldPad available on the Graphite web site, graphite.sil.org. This is version 1.0. There is no installer available with this version; you may need to register the DLLs by running regsvr32. |

I'd like to invite you to join the new SilGraphite-fonts mailing list. The
focus of this list is for people who are interested in developing
Graphite-enabled fonts.
(Note that this new list corresponds roughly to the previous GDL list,
except that Graphite development issues should now be directed to
SilGraphite-devel, not to the fonts list. The fonts list is intended for
discussion of how to use GDL to create Graphite fonts.)
To subscribe to this list, send a message to
sil...@li... with the word "subscribe"
in the subject line. You can also subscribe by visiting the SourceForge web
site at:

See you on the list!
