Hi all, The PrimeKey SignServer team is pleased to announce the release of SignServer Community 5.2.0.Final. In total 18 tickets have been resolved since SignServer Enterprise 5.1.0 and 58 tickets since the last community version, highlights mentioned below. New Administration Web The SignServer Administration GUI (AdminGUI) has been replaced with a brand new Administration Web interface, previously only available in SignServer Enterprise. The improved and modern AdminWeb interface eases deploying SignServer by allowing using a Web browser for managing administration tasks instead of the standalone Java desktop application. PGP Signing Support In addition to the support of all X.509 based signers, we have now added support for PGP/GPG signing of software release packages and repositories, or for general signing. The new OpenPGP Signer can produce both detached and clear-text signatures. For step-by-step instructions on configuring and using this new signer, see https://doc.primekey.com/signserver/signserver-operations/setting-up-openpgp-signer See also our previous blog post on PGP signing with SignServer: https://blog.ejbca.org/2019/10/pgp-signing-with-signserver.html Upgrade Information For full details of fixed issues implemented in this release, refer to our JIRA Issue Tracker: https://jira.primekey.se/issues/?filter=14587 For upgrade instructions, review the https://doc.primekey.com/signserver/signserver-installation/upgrade-signserver About this Release For download link, documentation, and contact information for mailing list and discussion forums, see: https://www.signserver.org Best Regards, Markus Kilås, Product Owner SignServer on behalf of the PrimeKey SignServer Team |

Hi, As a user of SignServer Community you may have seen that we at PrimeKey are hosting our very popular Tech Days in September. This is perhaps the only real hard core PKI event during 2017, and you are hereby invited. The demand for tickets is high as usual, and during previous years all tickets have quickly sold out. In order to accommodate for the high demand Tech Days have been moved to a larger venue, while keeping the same quality in speakers. As always, we take pride in having speakers who are of true value for our highly technically skilled audience. So far we have released four of these speakers: Cisco on EST, David Hook (Bouncy Castle), Siemens on Industrial IoT and DarkMatter on PKI. Keep an eye on our LinkedIn and Twitter to see when we release more speakers. In addition to our esteemed guest speaker we will of course give you the latest updates on the PrimeKey product roadmaps and insights. At PrimeKey Tech Days you will not only get to listen to many interesting speakers but you also get the opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the world's best minds in PKI and IT Security. This is something we know that attendees really appreciate and we will therefore arrange a boat tour and dinner for all attendees on the first evening of the event. If you want to know more about Tech Days or register for the event, click here: https://www.primekey.com/tech-days Date: 25 - 26 of September Place: Stockholm, Sweden Ticket fee: 380 Euro + VAT. Recently a vulnerability was documented by Foxglove Security [1] in regards to Java object deserialization. The basis of this vulnerability is that the Apache commons-collections library contains certain classes that can, due to a design flaw in how deserialization is performed, used to run remote code on a machine. While we don't use any of the offending classes from commons-collections in EJBCA or SignServer, merely the fact that they exist on the classpath presents a risk. The commons-collections library is also included in most application servers, including Oracle Weblogic [2] and JBoss. Existing support customers has been notified and patches provided. The next Community Edition releases will either contained patched versions of the library or a later version where the issue has been resolved. If you can't wait for those we recommend you follow Red Hat's recommendation [3] and remove the vulnerable classes your self. Note that both the commons-collections in the application server and in EJBCA/SignServer needs to be patched. [1] http://foxglovesecurity.com/2015/11/06/what-do-weblogic-websphere-jboss-jenkins-opennms-and-your-application-have-in-common-this-vulnerability/ [2] http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/alert-cve-2015-4852-2763333.html?elq_mid=31779&sh=&cmid=WWMK14064193MPP032C013 [3] https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2045023 Regards, The PrimeKey EJBCA and SignServer Teams PrimeKey will exhibit as partner together with Utimaco at Cartes, November 17-19, 2015. The PrimeKey SignServer team is happy to announce the release of SignServer 3.7.0 community and enterprise editions! SignServer 3.7.0 introduces improvements to the user interfaces and internal API:s to support multiple keys and certificates per worker, as well as the ability to store certificates in the HSM. The CLI client now has support for batch signing. Starting from this version, SignServer can now be used for personal signing of documents and code. In addition, batch signing enables new use cases where documents are collected and then digitally signed all at once, at a specific time. Running on the latest technology platforms, SignServer is so flexible it is suitable for any organization, cloud, social or mobile system. Faster, more resource efficient, secure and user friendly than ever. SignServer 3.7.0 is a major release with 67 issues resolved, the most noteworthy listed below. New Features and Improvements: - Individual keys and certificates (including CLI/GUI for managing those in a token). - Batch signing support in the client CLI. - Password prompts in the client CLI. - Initial support for building using Maven. - Improved logging options in PlainSigner and MSAuthCodeSigner. - Various GUI improvements. Bug fixes: - Performance issue in XAdES signer has been fixed. - Client CLI startup issue on some systems is resolved. - Bundled versions of Apache Santuario (XML Security) and Xalan upgraded. Security notice: The Xalan 2.7.1 library previously bundled with SignServer is subject to a potential security issue (CVE-2014-0107). SignServer does not by itself use the vulnerable functions from Xalan and there is thus no real vulnerability in SignServer. We have anyway chosen to update to the latest versions as those libraries are provided with SignServer. As the application server also uses Xalan, users are recommended to upgrade to JBoss EAP 6.3 or later which includes the newer Xalan version. Alternatively, Red Hat provides patches for earlier EAP versions. For JBoss AS 7.1.1 it is possible to follow our instructions in the installation guide for how to instead use the libraries bundled with SignServer. Read the changelog in our issue tracker for full details: https://jira.primekey.se/browse/DSS Regards, PrimeKey SignServer Team |

XML processing workers in SignServer has been discovered to be vulnerable to an XML External Entity attack. Systems configured with the affected modules could allow an attacker to access local files, bypass certain protection mechanisms or cause high CPU usage. Users using any of the following workers are recommended to upgrade to the latest version of SignServer or to disable access to those workers from untrusted users: - XML signer and validator - XAdES signer and validator - OOXML signer - ODF signer Note that installations where those workers are not configured are not affected by this vulnerability. This issue has been resolved in SignServer 3.6.2 by disallowing document type definitions in user supplied XML documents. For upgrade instructions, please see doc/UPGRADE.txt. We are pleased to announce the release of SignServer 3.5.0. This release resolves several minor issues and brings improved performance in some areas as well as adds some new features such as SHA-2 support in the PDF signer. This is a maintenance release with 17 issues resolved, the most noteworthy of which are: New features and improvements: - Support for SHA-2 hash algorithms in PDF Signer. - Support for using the worker servlet when running the stress test tool. - Checksums using SHA256 are now available for the releases. - System tests are now included in the binary distribution. Bug fixes: - PDF and XAdES signers could cause deadlocks under high load when using a local TSA. - Ant target for copying modules was not working for custom sub modules. - Updated Apache Santuario (XML Security) for a security and a performance issue.
