Note that this guide will only work under Fedora 16.

First install the gnome-tweak-tool, it's available in the official repos.

Then install the shell extension 'dock'. In the packed source code, an adapted version of the dock is in it.

If you don't have yet, unpack the download. Then copy the gnome-shell folder to /usr/share/

Then restart the gnome-shell.

If the left panel is not showing up, check the settings in the gnome-tweak-tool, if the dock extension is enabled.

If the workspace overview is too far away or hidden behind the right panel, you have to adjust a value in gnome-shell.css, which is located in /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme. There you should find in line 427 the value for the showing up before the pointer enters in the box. Edit this value, so it fits your screen.

To complete, you can throw out the close, minimize, maximize buttons by editing /desktop/gnome/shell/windows/button_layout through gconf-editor.
