1) Release Information

We are pleased to deliver the first beta of SharpDevelop2 2.1 codenamed “Serralongue”. It contains many new features (please see section “Features” for details) as well as improvements for existing ones. We would like to encourage you to install and test drive this new version as it contains numerous bug fixes over the released 2.0 version.

To report bugs, please go to the Beta forum especially dedicated to v2.1:

http://community.sharpdevelop.net/forums/23/ShowForum.aspx

Known bugs are listed in our publicly accessible bug tracker:

http://bugtracker.sharpdevelop.net/Issues.aspx?pi=4&m=1

2) .NET Award @ BASTA!

The SharpDevelop project has been nominated for the .NET Award @ BASTA!, along with nine other projects. You can learn more about this award at the German-language only site:

http://basta-award.de/basta_award/nominierungen.xhtml

One of the other nominees wrote up a short summary in English (including all other nominated projects) to give you an idea what this .NET Award @ BASTA! is about:

http://weblogs.asp.net/rweigelt/archive/2006/09/11/536183.aspx

The awards will be presented tomorrow, Wednesday 20th. It’s too bad that none of our team members are able to make it due to our schedules, so this is our public apology for not showing up at the awards show. Of course we will get back to you on how we fared.

4) Downloads

SharpDevelop2 2.1 Beta 1 is available on our Downloads page:

http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/Download/#SharpDevelop221

The download of the installer for version 2.1 is about double the size of version 2.0, which is due to us switching from NSIS to the Windows Installer XML toolset. The new format was chosen to provide a convincing test bed for the WiX feature (see section “Features”), as well as play more nicely in deployment scenarios.

Please note that to take full advantage of SharpDevelop2 2.1 features, you must install the following software too (otherwise, code analysis and code coverage support will be disabled):

NCover: http://ncover.org/site/
FxCop: http://www.gotdotnet.com/Team/FxCop/

Daily builds of SharpDevelop2 2.1 are available on our build server at

http://build.sharpdevelop.net/

5) Support

Our primary means of support is via our Web-based forum (please do not email team members directly unless they advise you to do so in the forum):
