1) What's New

SharpDevelop Fidalgo (1.0) is now feature complete, and we have entered bugfix-only mode (see section Where to report bugs on how to help us!). The following features have been added or vastly improved for Beta 1:

* Ctrl+Space completion
* Folding
* NUnit integration
* Assembly Analyzer (FxCop clone on steroids)
* C++.NET backend
* ILAsm backend binding
* WiX backend binding
* Mini Class Browser panel
* VB.NET to C# converter
* Alt+Ins code generator revamped
* Improvements to File Templates
* Improvements to VS.NET exporter/importer
* Printing

This list also means that the debugger did not make it for the 1.0 release cycle if you want to help, please see the Help Wanted section in the Start Pad.

Regarding help wanted please take the time to read the next section.

2) Translators Wanted!

As you will notice, this version of SharpDevelop ships with fewer languages than it used to. Currently, you only get the following (sorted by # of missing translations descending): Slovenian, Bulgarian, Japanese, Chinese Simplified, Russian, Polish, Italian, Hungarian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, German, and English.

The following languages have translations started (same sort order): Urdu, Hebrew, Slovak, Spanish (Mexico), Greek, Thai, Catalan, Lithuanian, Turkish, Belarusian, Portuguese, Swedish, Chinese Traditional, Czech, Korean, Danish, French, Romanian, and Dutch.

If you want to help translating any existing or new language (except English and German), please contact Christoph (christophw at alphasierrapapa dot com) and he will set up a translation account for you and everyone will see more languages by time of Release Candidate 1!

3) Where to Download

http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/download/

IMPORTANT NOTE: you MUST remove the existing .icsharpcode folder before installing or starting Fidalgo Beta 1. The aforementioned folder can be found at the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data

4) Access to the Latest Code

If you want, you can download the most current source code from our repository. A HOWTO is available in our Wiki:

http://www.icsharpcode.net/heyhey/wiki/ow.asp?UsingTheRepository

It also contains links to our commit hook mailing list, as well as the mailing list where users of the Subversion codebase should report bugs to. Note that reporting bugs on released versions is discussed in the next bullet.

5) Where to Report Bugs

We do have an automatic error reporting dialog when #develop crashes with an unhandled exception. It will automatically take you to

http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/BugReporting.aspx

where you can paste the error information. On non-exception bugs, go to the above location and provide us with .NET and OS version information.

In both cases, please do not forget to provide us with step by step instructions to reproduce the bug.

The forum is intended for reporting bugs, the team is tracking the bugs via our own bug tracker, which can be viewed (read-only) at the following URL:

http://bugtracker.sharpdevelop.net

Thank you for helping make #develop a more functional and stable product!

The #develop Team
