I'm one of the original Shareaza developers btw. There is no encryption on the connection, everything is in plain text, the G2 network is basically dead and everyone has moved on to torrents 2 decades ago. Just let it die.

this confirms, once again, that you don’t know what are you are talking about. I cannot publish my exe in the original shareaza repo as that one is gone... About the false positive, I opened an issue on my github repos to check and fix. if yiu dont trust me, simply don’t download the build. s

you make a version of shareaza and you don't publish where it's published since ages, but you publish on your personal github, then I question that the file is infected, also another user did, and the only thing that you can say is that 6/71 on virustotal is a false positive?

it's clearly detected as a trojan by virustotal, and as you said people can easily hide things, but you didn't hide it in all scanners yet.

Never heard of “false positive”? 6 detections as “generic w32s threat”. As I already wrote, you have the sources so you can check by yourself (if you have technical skills). last thing, if I want to hide something in the code, stay assured that the artifact will pass the VT check <grin></grin>

I have seen a few promising forks (Envy was the last one I used) but watched them all stall. Lack of users or interest, who knows, but I would suggest that maybe using the shareaza forum for a unified point of release info and feedback may be useful for user awareness. BTW. Have you found a replacement for the LimeWire schemas ?

Update: I created a new branch and put that one as default. I managed to build all things in the VS2022. I updated libs to be compatible with the 64bit environment. I only need to solve a C++ issue with a "deleted reference" (error C2280). I think the first 64 bit release is almost around the corner :D
