Hi, I just uploaded the CD contents to the website. You can download it (it's a gzipped tar archive) from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sgems/files/sgems_book_cd.tgz/download Nicolas On Sat, Jun 18, 2011 at 3:46 PM, <mi...@ci...> wrote: > Dear Nicolas, > > Same problem here as Cristian. Dear Nicolas, Same problem here as Cristian. I got the paperback edition from amazon.co.uk three days ago but the cd is missing. I was about to return my copy as defective and ask Amazon for another one, but now I suspect their entire current stock could be missing the cd... Please let me know how to get the contents of the cd, as I would rather avoid waiting the time to get another copy still possibly lacking the cd. Cheers, Michele > Hi Cristian, > > You can download SGeMS from the website: sgems.sourceforge.net > I am not sure we have the data sets online, I'll look into it this > week and keep you posted. > > Nicolas > > 2011/6/12 Cristian <crisu.dr@...>: > > Dear Authors, > > > > I have bought the book (2011 edition) and have the surprise of not having > > received the CD. Hi Cristian, You can download SGeMS from the website: sgems.sourceforge.net I am not sure we have the data sets online, I'll look into it this week and keep you posted. Dear Authors, I have bought the book (2011 edition) and have the surprise of not having received the CD. Amazon services have no idea where the CD is, but normally one should be able to download it from a repository in a similar fashion as for the software. Please indicate where is this necessary repository. Appreciating, Cris |

Hi, I have an application calling SGeMS through a batch file. In Windows XP it works right, but in Windows 7 it returns the message: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way". Does someone know how to solve this problem? Thanks, Eugênio. |

Hi, I have about 14000 3d locations, i.e. x,y,t with three attributes, average velocity and interval velocity and depth: * I imported x, y and vertical is two way time in ms, the attribute I would like to generate a variogram for is the vinterval. Is there a problem in fitting a variogram when the vertical axis (time in ms) is of different units than the horizontal ones (in m)? * How to I fit only a vertical variogram to my data? * The end product is a 3d structural model driven by horizons picked and populated by kriging of existing 3d data Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thomas, Thanks for your help. It seems that I am getting more problems every time I try to install SGeMS on my Ubuntu laptop. I believe I need to make a clean install before going any further with permissions problems. Is there any way I can uninstall all packages and start over? Thanks! -- Jose R. The file .cvspass is also > owned by root and cannot be read/written: It seems you have the same problem with permissions. If you simply run the script 'compile_sgems.sh' using sudo as : -- sudo sh ./compile_sgems.sh -- you should not have all the permission problems, and all you need to do is to hit enter once the script needs to download GsTL from CVS. If you prefer to type in the commands manually, you can simply add a 'sudo ' prior to the commands that give you a problem. Your problem seems to be that you have tried to run the install script using 'sudo' wich have created a bunch of files owned by root. When you later try to install as a 'regular' user you will have the permission problems. I hope this helps - Thomas > diego@diego-pc1:~$ cvs > -d:pserver:ano...@gs...:/cvsroot/gstl login > Logging in to :pserver:ano...@gs...:2401/cvsroot/gstl > CVS password: > cvs login: warning: failed to open /home/diego/.cvspass for reading: > Permission denied > cvs [login aborted]: could not open /home/diego/.cvspass for writing: > Permission denied > diego@diego-pc1:~$ > How can I solve that? Thanks Thomas. I needed to use sudo as you suggested. Now, I get a similar problem in step 3a (download GsTL using CVS). The file .cvspass is also owned by root and cannot be read/written: diego@diego-pc1:~$ cvs -d:pserver:ano...@gs...:/cvsroot/gstl login Logging in to :pserver:ano...@gs...:2401/cvsroot/gstl CVS password: cvs login: warning: failed to open /home/diego/.cvspass for reading: Permission denied cvs [login aborted]: could not open /home/diego/.cvspass for writing: Permission denied diego@diego-pc1:~$ How can I solve that? Sorry for all the perturbations! I just want to get through this in one go instead of working on this in patches or leaving it "for the weekend" when kids are home and I can barely touch the computer in normal hours :) Take care! -- Jose R. Seems like a file permission problem remember to run the sgems_compile script as a priviliged user : sudo sh ./sgems_compile If you run the compilation manually remember to use sudo when you type 'make install' and possible when you try to delete the simvoleon folder: - sudo rm -fr simvoleon - Hope this helps Thomas > Do you need any other info > from my side to help troubleshoot the problem? Thomas, Thanks for updating the guide. However, I still run into problems. The commands in step 2 cannot be executed (Permission denied) because the simvoleon is owned by root. In fact, I cannot manually delete folder in the File Browser. Is there anything else I can try? Do you need any other info from my side to help troubleshoot the problem? I am using Ubuntu 10.04. Nico, Thomas, When following step 2 (downloading and installing Simvoleon) described in http://imgp.imm.dtu.dk/compile_sgems.php/om/ I get the following error message: villaj@villaj-pc1:~$ mv default-* simvoleon mv: cannot move `default-701fec84c932' to `simvoleon/default-701fec84c932': Permission denied As a consequence, the other steps fail. Do I have to run these commands using the root account? or I am missing something else? I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks! -- Jose R. Dear list members, I wrote the follow command, in a batch file, to automate some tasks in SGeMS. RunScript <file_path>\<file_name>.py My application calls this batch file and it works right. Now I would like to pass some parameters to the Python file. Is it possible? What is the syntax? Regards, Eugênio. |

Hi Simone, It looks like you are missing some files from the Boost library (www.boost.org). I actually hit the same problem when trying to compile sgems on the Mac, and the solution was to download boost, and copy all the missing .h files to boost sub-directory in GsTL (I actually didn't bother selecting the files, I just copied entire directories. In your case, copy boost/mpl to GsTL/boost). Alexandre recently added a new kdtree class to the code but it seems that he forgot to update the GsTL code with the boost dependencies. Hi Thomas, how are you doing? I run Ubuntu 10.04 on my personal laptop. I installed Wine and SGeMS runs flawlessly on it! I did nothing in particular, I installed the SGeMS exe file from within Wine and everything is all right, I can compute variograms, histograms, run algorithms and display grid results, just like the Windows version. Interestingly enough, I have some difficulties trying to install SGeMS on Ubuntu 10.04. I have done the steps indicated in the web site (*) but I get stuck downloading and installing Simvoleon. If you are willing to help me on that, I can write you a separate email describing it in more details :) Running SGeMS from Wine is fine, but I would really want to run as any other software from Linux.
