Hi there, On 7/5/07, James Li <jam...@ya...> wrote: > > The Coin and SoQT and SimVoleon on the website > http://sgems.sourceforge.net/ > are not vailable for downloading now, why? thanks. I'm just a user. Coin, SoQT and SimVoleon are software dependencies, and not part of sgems, you *should* be capable of finding & downloading from their respective websites them by yourself. Also, you can download for free much up-to-date C++ compilers and IDEs for windows. (Visual Studio Express for instance..) VC++ 6.0 is probably to broken to be able to compile sgems. (yes, compilers do have bugs and inconsistencies that may stop them from compiling correct C++ code) > > James > > James Li <jam...@ya...> wrote: > > > Thanks for your help. Hello everybody, I have question about using sgems for development purpose. Does sgems can be used as lib or API or in any similar way (not for plugins) or should I use GSTL for this purpose? Does sgems support large dataset. Let say (1000X1000X100) cube? Hi, We don't support VC6 anymore, so you'll have to use VC2003. The solution (.sln) file is in the WinGsTLappli directory. You will need to define a few environment variables: - COINDIR, to point to the top-level install directory of Coin, SimVoleon and SoQt: $COINDIR/lib should contain the coin, soqt, etc dlls and $COINDIR/include the include files. - COIN3D_DIR, the same as COINDIR... I can't remember which one is actually used... - SGEMS_BUILD, points to the top-level directory of SGeMS (ie the folder that contains the readme, etc). - QTDIR should have been set by Qt. Let me know if you need more help Nicolas On 7/3/07, James Li <jam...@ya...> wrote: > > Hi, I am a newcomer trying to work on S-GeMS source code under visual V++ > 6.0 or visual studio.NET 2003. Hi Darryl, The GsTL source code is actually in extra/GsTL-1.3. I also added 1.3 to the sourceforge page ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/gstl). And of course you can always get the newest version of the code from CVS. Hi Guys, Tried to install everything, including the sources, for 2.0, but I don't see that the GsTL has been installed. Inadvertant omission? Also, which version of the GsTL are we supposed to have if it doesn't come with the SGems sources? The latest on sourceforge is 1.2.1, but this doesn't have certain files that are needed to compile SGems it seems to me. For example, SGems has in LU_sim.cpp the include header #include <GsTL/simulation/LU_simulator.h> but in the GsTL 1.2.1 that I have, there is no LU_simulator.h file in simulation folder, just sequential_simulation.h and sequential_cosimulation.h. We finally released a new version of SGeMS! And that deserved the version
number to be bumped to 2.0...
New features include:
- many new geostatistics algorithms
- improvements to the multiple point statistics algorithms
- improved 3D visualization:
- volume rendering to hide selected cells
- movable colormap
- a new type of grid: "masked grids" (a cartesian grid with a mask defining
inactive cells)
- sgems commands history and auto-completion
- save plots in (true) postscript
Click here<http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sgems/sgems_2.0_installer.exe?use_mirror=easynews&filesize=8882372>to
download the Windows installer or here

Hi Thomas You can look at the code in simulacre_filter.cpp and simulacre_filter.h. Search in the GsTLAppli\filters directory. We have also developed a gslib type program that convert the sgems binary format into a ASCII geoeas format file. You can download it here: http://pangea.stanford.edu/~maharaja/geoeas2sgems.zip See you in Austin! Hi Comunian,
The "Run time error" is due to the memory allocation. As you may know
the memory consumption is a big issue of snesim algorithm, especially
when you are working with a large 3D training image which has
multiple categories with a great variability of training patterns. In
your case, you used a very large number of conditioning data (146),
which means the maximum memory cost will be proportional to 4^146
hence surpasses your computer allocation capability. I would suggest
you to reduce the total number of conditioning data to be less than
100, say 80; and use the subgrid option in the "Advanced" tab. If
this still does not help, then try Amisha's hierarchy simulation workflow.

Hi all, I tried to run simulations on snesim, and for some set of parameter, it appears the error: "Run time error" related to the MS visual c++ libraries. Observing the task manager, the RAM utilizations grows up and then... "error". The parameters set seems to be ok: running the simulation with very similar but less RAM demanding parameters sets works fine. Have you got any suggestion? I'm using wrong parameters? In attachment you can find: - An *.xls file that summarizes the parametes set - The project *.prj - the error (*.jpg) - some parameter sets (see the file *.xls to see where the Error rises..) My PC is a MS Windows XP with 2 Xeon and 2 G RAM. The same error appears in a dell laptop... Thank you in advance! Best regards, Alessandro Comunian |

Hi Initially I performed Ordinary kriging in regular grids. Although the predicted values varied across the study area, the prediction variance at all prediction locations was the same. I re-tested it in a subset of the prediction grids, and the prediction variance was same at all the locations. I again tried kriging on grid location selected at differing spatial proximity to the sampling points, and sampling configuration, I still get kriging variance the same at all sampling locations. Even at prediction points close to true locations, the prediction variances was same to the locations distant apart. Any idea on why I get the same prediction error variance at all locations - whether I use regularly spaced prediction grids or irregularly spaced prediction grids. Thanks Sanjay |

Hi, As i recently acquired a macbook i thought to run sgems on it. Seems like i have some compilation issues which i didn't have when i was compiling for linux. (plz find the compile log attached at the end of the email) I was wondering Nico, if you had any idea what was going on... Maybe something with the gcc compiler that mac provides? Hi, We use VC.net 2003 (7.1?). We stopped using vc6 about a year ago, so the .dsp files are probably not up-to-date. You probably won't be able to compile sgems with vc6 (even with updated dsp files) if you use the default compiler (it chockes on C++ templates). We had to use the Intel compiler when we worked under vc6. You could try with VC++ 2005 Express, which is free. I think the compiler is more strict than that of VC2003, so you may bump into a few syntax errors... We are planning to make the code compatible with VC2005 express, but that probably won't happen before november. Hi ! I wonder how to issue a warning message during the execution of an algorithm. For example when the algorithm find something suspicious but when it can still do its work ? I'd like to have a nice popup window that tells the user that the algoritm did encounter a problem. I also wonder how GsTLcerr works ? When I redirect a message to GsTLcerr I don't see it anywhere. Is there any initilization that should be done prior to use it ? Cheers, Philippe |

Just so that nobody lose too much time on my previous mail. Ting found
the error and it is corrected. The problem was that the eof character,
read in the input file, was copied in the string. The parser had an
error because of that.
The solution is to read the file with that loop:
while ( true ) {
c =3D paramfile.get();
if( paramfile.eof() ) break;
simul_parameter_string+=3Dc;
}
I still have the problem of modifying the parameters. I will do it brute
force by searching and replacing words in the string. But if someone has
a better idea, it would be great !
Best, Philippe
