I've been continuing to research other games to find out what I like/don't like about the way they've implemented the various parts of their systems. I've listed a few in previous posts that I felt warranted looking at, because for some reason or another I was impressed with something they did. The next phase of my research will be to find an online game that I can run on my own server. A few examples of the games I've been looking at are Empire, Stars! and World Conquest. There are others, and some allow you to run your own server and others do not. I'll find one I like and set it up within the next few weeks or so. Most of these games are not really analogous to SFB because they are not wargames, per se. They are more like on-going strategy games. However, I want to get a feel for how to set up the software and maintain the games. I think this will enable to to gain some insight into what works/doesn't work with a client/server game. By listing the games I've been looking into, I'm not trying to push the development of SBOL in any particular direction, I'm just trying to develop an idea of what has already been done so I can discuss /evaluate designs for SBOL more intelligently. -Dev __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
