In accordance with the Cryptography Law of the People's Republic of China, the use of cryptographic algorithms approved by the State Cryptography Administration is promoted. In this context, we would like to inquire about the feasibility of incorporating support for SM4 (equivalent to AES-128) or ZUC-128/256 algorithms for file encryption.

You can create a plugin, that does that. Not sure if it can work as regular filter plugin, like bswap or xor. Dev's opinion on this would be helpful.

I think we don't need new encryption methods in 7-Zip, as long as AES-256 is considered secure.

As you correctly pointed out, AES-256 is indeed secure at present. However, it is important to consider that different regions may have their own specific cryptographic suite requirements.

To accommodate these regional variations, I kindly request whether it would be possible to assign a new codec identifier or, at the very least, provide a mechanism to specify an object identifier (OID) for the cryptographic suite being used.

Implementing such flexibility would greatly enhance the adaptability to diverse regulatory environments and ensure compliance with various regional standards.
