Could we have the option to prevent browsing to
particular drives e.g. C: in File Manager?
Alternatively, could File MAnager follow Group Policies
for Windows Explorer, which include that option.
Currently, using 7zip file manager gives our students a
way to bypass our restrictions and directly access the
C: drive.
Thanks

This is a feature that would help us very very much.
I Think every network admin would like this one.

    Please prioritize this request.

Please go for this one. Many sysadmins will love this feature.

[...] could File Manager follow Group Policies for Windows Explorer <<<

The importance of this feature cannot be stressed enough. Until 7-Zip follows Explorer policies regarding hiddden drives (both the "NoDrives" and "NoViewOnDrive" policies), it is barred from installation in many organizations, corporations, government agencies, etc. despite user requests and IT support. With Explorer policies support, 7-Zip (and the .7z format) would otherwise have a great chance of becoming the corporate standard thanks to its many features, speed, compression ratio, multiple archive types support, etc.

I can't think of any new feature that would have a more profound effect on 7-Zip adoption worldwide.

    Jacques.

We are also having to look for an alternative free archiving utility because of this issue. Students are able to access the C: drive using the 7-zip File Manager, however the GPOs in place are supposed to restrict this and 7-zip does not honour them.

When we do our annual software changes in summer we are almost certainly going to remove 7-zip unless this issue is corrected.

I still haven't found an archiver that honours these settings so if 7-zip would be the first one that would be great as it would be our preferred solution. This issue is still a problem, so please do still look at it.
