Hi,
Will there be any speed benefits to having an option to choose even or odd cores if HyperThreading/SMT is enabled on the motherboard?
From my experience, the performance is choked when the logical HyperThreading/SMT cores are used too much.
The logical cores create so much contention for shared resources that they drag everything down (on a 5900X, 12 physical cores could actually finish faster than using all 24 with HyperThreading/SMT enabled.)
Not sure how 7-Zip handles this?
By choosing 12 of 24 cores I can see that the first 12 cores are used = bad (since they include the HyperThread/SMT, so better go for all odd or even)
