Hello. I am only comfortable with GUI of 7-zip, not command line. I know what I am requesting can be done thru cmd line or scripts but I would like a simple GUI checkbox that controls this behavior in 7zfm.exe.
Basically I compress huge Virtual machines at night daily with highest dictionary size. So I can't do it during the day when I am using the PC. So I would like a simple checkbox option to only compress 1 task at a time/only start archiving 1 7z archive at a time. That is, 7zfm.exe checks for 1 instance of itself, when it quits, it starts and 2nd task and so on.
If this were to be implemented it will save a lot of time for long compression tasks as I can set up 5-10 compression tasks one after the other and since it also takes a lot of memory, it will finish one after the other by morning.
WinRAR has an option like this "Wait if other copies are active" that exactly does this but I prefer 7zip and LZMA2 over RAR.
Sorry I didn't notice it has already been requested by dozens of users here: https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/c4a1a940/?limit=25
