I have been using 7zip for many years now because of the great compression ratio. I downloaded the 9.32 Alpha and noticed in the Options > 7-zip tab there is "CRC SHA>" option for the context menu. I'm not sure but doesn't this have to do with so sort of encryption? Can someone please explain this in plain english?
The CRC commands that 7-Zip adds to the Explorer menu are alternatives for running utilities like md5sum or sha1sum at a command prompt.
The long hexadecimal number that 7-Zip returns from a CRC command is the hash value, which uniquely identifies the selected file. If the file ever changes, then its hash value changes too.
Thank you Darik for the information.
