compress and email doesn't work

  • Johannes Weidenauer

I'm using 7-Zip 9.20 on two laptops (HP Pavilion 1.5GHz, 1GB; Lenovo T400 Core2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB) and a desktop Computer (Core2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB) on WIN XP SP3 with all updates, all 32 Bit, all admin privileges.
Unfortunately "compress and send via email" doesn't work on none of the above mentioned systems.
When I click on "compress and send..." I can see a window with a progress bar for a part of a second. After that, nothing happens.
The standard mail program is Thunderbird 17.0.2
Right-click, send to Mail Recipient does work fine.
    What can I do?

Thunderbird wasn't set as the default mail program.
I don't know why because it's the only mail program that is installed, I even uninstalled outlook express and so I thought it must be the default.
I set thunderbird as the default mail program now and now it opens after right-click -> compress and email.
But there is still a problem: Thunderbird opens, but not the compose-window!
