I will need to get a updated compression utility to deal with the newer archive types. Looking at 7-zip, the FAQ and th Forum items leaves a little confused.
The blurb about 7z indicates there is a Command Line version but elsewhere it seems to be for UNIX/POSIX systems.
Can someone who is using 7z offer some comment on this aspect i.e. is CL mode of 7z for unix/posix only, the CL is only available within the Windows shell or both. Also, is their a CL version available that will work with DOS (I'm guessing that memory limitations might come into play here)?
thanks

Kevin, take a look at https://www.7-zip.org/download.html : there are Windows and Linux versions there + older MacOS version.
Full features (GUI + console) are available for Windows only, and for Linix/MacOS there is only a console version.

Thanks for the link Anton, it had a couple of more sets of older downloads. There was a 32-bit Command Line version. Won't be any good for older pure DOS stuff (often needed when really low level needs to be done) but probably o.k. for any 32-bit DOS. I'll have to look into that aspect now.
Cheers,
Kev
