It's been 2.5 years since the release of a stable build of 7-Zip. Now in my experience the alphas have been very stable and I've been appreciative of the occasional new features, however I'm sure a lot of people haven't touched the alphas because they're, well, alpha, and this increasingly large gap between alpha and stable is a bit of a concern.
Does Igor lack faith in the quality of his alphas, or is he waiting for enough new features before pushing out a "stable" release? I'm wondering if we need some sort of Kickstarter for 7-Zip development if it's a lack of resources that's causing the slow nature of development. There are still plenty of ways 7-Zip could improve (e.g. atomic extraction of .tar.gz files so that the .tar gets extracted automatically is a popular one), so it's not like development is slow because it has to be. Money is a motivator for many people.

About current delay with new version.
There are some internal changes in source code. 7-Zip supports big number of archive formats. So it was no so easy to update whole code for new feature.
I hope the development will be faster after next alpha version.
Kickstarter is not required.

I've watching a lot of post during last weeks, and there's a lot of people waiting for new versions. Maybe, the huge community of 7zip could do more things to help developing...
Actually, i think 7zip is the best uncompressing tool available, and i don't know about Igor's economical situation, but if money isn't a motivator, what can we do to motivate/help you?
Thanks a lot for your work Igor,

Hmm, as a long term user ( in private and as an Admin/Sysop at work ) with over 1200 7-Zip installs I feel a bit "left in the dark" or "left alone" because the product could definitaly use some tweaking here and there. My users are requesting new Versions from time to time and all I can tell them is - 1 Year since the last Alpha, 2 Years since the last stable- don´t know if the product ist dead in the water or whatever is going on... From the customer side of things it´s pretty annoying how your informations / community / releases are handled... Don´t get me wrong - I love the product, but I hate the way it´s "sold"...

Does exist another way to help you?

My motivation is OK. New version is not too far.
