for the last days i created some 7-Zip themes. I fetched nearly all of the icons from various websites. So i´m not the creator of them (just modified them to meet the sizing requirements of 24x24 and 48x36 and did some color changes). All of the toolbar themes based on a modification to "7zFM.exe" which allows true color icons (Thanks to angel777) so all the toolbar downloads offer a "7zFM_theme.exe" file which you need to rename and put into your 7-Zip folder. Same goes for filetype icons - just rename, replace and it´ll work.
For Developers
Two Windows Batch files (one for filetype and one for toolbars) which let you automatically patch original 7zip files (located in the "Source" directory). Just put your themes into the "Toolbar" or "Filetype" folder and run one of the Batch files... the interactive interface will generate patched files in the "Build" directory for you. Quiet simple but it works very well. Just take a look and you´ll see how it works, maybe you can make some better themes... ;)
thanks for your work on embellishing 7-Zip.
I've encountert two glitches so far in the Toolbar Themes:
1.) Every 7zFM_blabla.exe that you provided is version 4.62 according to the about screen (Open 7-Zip Filemanager -> ? -> About 7-Zip... -> Version is 4.62 an not the newest 4.64).
This glitch applies to every theme (just took tango2 as example in the screenshot), no matter if the icons in the toolbar were big or small.
Icon refreshing with TweakUI or a reboot did not help. Everything works fine in my virtualised Win xp pro SP3 and Windows 7 in Virtualbox.
I use 7-Zip 4.64 with sparanoid filetype icons, Win xp pro SP3, nVidia Geforce 181.22 and besides a patched uxtheme-file no other desktop effects enhancing software enabled.
I'm glad to provide further info if needed.

I´m really sorry because the version mismatch is my fault. I think i used the wrong version to build my release files. I will rebuild them as soon as i´m getting home because i´m at work now.
The other glitch with the transparent icon background is much more difficult. I´m using bitmaps with an "emulated" alpha channel to get better quality. I also tried to convert them so that RGB 255, 0, 255 will be used as transparent but the most icons look very ugly with this.
I´m also running Win XP SP3 with all patches, a modified uxtheme.dll with no other modifications and it works pretty good. I also testet the themes with SP2 and even SP1 of Win XP, but i didn´t test them with Vista. Maybe it´s the wrong version of 7zFM.exe?
I will fix my themes and update the thread this evening. In the meantime you can download my "developers pack" and patch a 7zFM.exe 4.64 on your own and please post the result.
Thanks for testing and sorry for the mistake. :(

Here is the updated version for 7-Zip 4.64. Now i used the right version of 7zFM.exe to build the themes. All themes working fine for me but if you still encounter some glitches then please post them.
Your toolbars work in Windows 7 so I assume it works on Vista too.
I think that the error must come from my system configuration, but I don't know where it resides from.
I tried Uninstalling and then reinstalling 7-Zip, changing my Windows Themes (even Windows classic, i.e. no theme at all) and I switched desktop color depth from 32bit to 16 and vice versa. Nothing helped.
I have no clue about such things so I don't know where to start debugging.
If you have an idea or conclusion on what I could try to fix this, I would be happy to do so.
Nonetheless thanks for your excellent work on it.

All themes (except "Tango_1") include 24 bit icons with 8 bit alpha channel which are supported by Windows XP and higher. Don´t know why this doesen´t work so lets start debugging... ;)
1. Please try my "Tango_1" theme it doesn´t use alpha channel and should work for you. Does it?
2. Can you install a clean windows xp (maybe in a virtual pc - if you don´t got one then use virtual pc 2007 by microsoft - its free and simple, just use google) and install only 7zip with one of my themes? Does this work?
After getting these results we may see whats the problem.
BTW: My english may not be that good, but i hope its okay. ;)

I used the developer's kit again to build a modified 7zFM.exe, but this time the colors look right, although the black border is still there (so now it looks like this: http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=7ziptoolbaret5.jpg\).
I can't reproduce the error of the first screenshot however and I don't know what caused it.
BTW: All the 7zFM_blabla.exe generated by the developer's kit are version 4.62.
I noticed that when I boot into "safe mode" (i.e. press F8 when booting windows) all the toolbar themes provided by KillerCookie look correctly. Now I'm trying to find out what may be the cause for the problem.

The developers pack contains the original 7zip files ("Source" directory) which are patched with my tools. I didn´t updated this version to 4.64 files to keep the links in the first post working correctly but you can easily do this on your own by replacing them.
Maybe this weekend i will host a website which always provides the latest links but it would be much better if could just edit my first post. Is this not possible at this "forum" or am i not allowed to? Don´t know... ^^

After various tests I've come to the conclusion that the black borders come from the nVidia GeForce drivers.
When I uninstall them, the toolbars look great. When I reinstall them again, the borders are black again.
I have a NVIDIA 8800GTS (MSI NX8800GTS-T2D320E-HD-OC bulk, 320MB, PCI-Express) with GeForce drivers 181.22 installed (181.20 made the black borders appear, too).
This time I reinstalled Windows xp Pro with a slipstreamed SP3 (this means SP3 is already integrated in the CD) but in a real environment, not in a virtual PC. The toolbars look great. Then I installed nVidia drivers and the borders were black again (everything was with default settings). I uninstalled nVidia drivers again and - surprise, surprise - the toolbars looked great again.
I still didn't figure out what actually causes the problem. On my regular system I'm not able to make the black borders disappear WITHOUT uninstalling nVidia drivers.
So if someone has a hint, I would appreciate it.

Sorry but i can´t help you debugging this bug because i have an ATI 4870 which works fine for me. There must be something wrong with the drivers which breaks the 8 bit transparency of the bitmaps. For now my only hint is to use "Tango_1" or try another driver version.
I got another computer with a geforce 6800 card but it isn´t working at the moment (seems like a hdd is damaged). As soon as i can get this fixed i will install the latest drivers and look if the themes work for me. For now thats the only thing i can do for you... sorry. :(

Hello,
i´m really sorry but for now i removed the toolbar themes from all download locations because i was told that they aren´t available under a free license. I got all of them from an icon package so i didn´t know that the were copyrighted. For now i´m in contact with the authors to get the permission (or maybe not) to redistribute them within this package.
I will repost this package till the end of the week with all the icons i´m allowed to. If somebody knows nice icons with are distributed under a free license then please post here or write me a mail - i will integrate them.
Sorry for all who havent already downloaded them but i will respect the rights of the original authors.
Good night.

(But it's v4.64 now :))
I tried to build a new 7zFM_blabla.exe with your developer toolkit (very good work by the way) but the toolbar that I built looks even worse:

Btw: It looks very nice. It's sad, that it has to be updated everytime again for newer versions. igor should really implement a system for themes.
Or it would be great if Igor would use one of those themes instead of the old one as a new official theme.
