    it must be without space:
    -wM:\7zip

    7-zip Benchmark

Yes, 7-Zip makes several passes to compress, if dictionary is small.
7-Zip tries to make test to work about 4-8 seconds, if test is fast.
But 7-Zip makes just one pass, if dictionary is BIG.

There are also "global" passes, that you can see in "Passes" field:

    1) global pass 1:
        - 4 passes to compress
        - 30 passes to decompress
    2) global pass 2:
        - 4 passes to compress
        - 30 passes to decompress
    and so on.

    > - 7-Zip File Manager now can move files to archives.

Will this also mean soon that 7zip might also move file out of archives?
for now I must copy first and delete, it would be helpful if just move worked too.

7-Zip File Manager shows Folder File Names in this order:

    128x128
    16x16
    22x22
    256x256
    32x32
    48x48
    512x512
    64x64

    Should it not be:

    16x16
    22x22
    32x32
    48x48
    64x64
    128x128
    256x256
    512x512

7-Zip 9.28 loses HIGH PRECISION file times DURING and AFTER extraction of files.  I have some ZIP files and HIGH PRECISION times are saved and restored correctly.  Is this a BUG or just a forgotten feature this release?  Thanks…

I forgot to make it clear that it is the *.7z files that are having issues with HIGH PRECISION file times. I am running 7-Zip 9.28 under Windows 7 x64 w/ 8GB using the default NTFS file system which has High Precision file times.

Maybe that SFX archive uses old SFX code that doesn't support new LZMA2 method.
When you update 7z archive with new 7-Zip, 7-Zip uses LZMA2 instead of LZMA.

File manager view>sort by type don't do anything

    ipavlov:
What appears to be happening was the file was stored originally as LOW PRECISION and then stored later as a 7z file.  7-Zip seems to preserve the LOW PRECISION.  I'm wondering if there is an option as to make it store ALL files regardless of how their times were originally using just HIGH PRECISION times.  eg in WinRAR, the "-ts+" option.  Thanks..

1st create a file that has LOW PRECISION…  It can either be created when "added" to an archive or done during "extraction". Using latest WinRAR 4.20, righ click a file and choose choose "Add to archive…", choose ZIP under General, de-select High precision modification time…

I would like all files in my 7z & zip archives to be STORED in "high precision" in order to be consistent throughout… NTFS seems to have extremely high precision file times it seems, compared to FAT32 & unix systems…

JD Software's TouchPro installs a command line utility under "C:\Program Files\JD Design\TouchPro\filetms.exe" which I use from a command shell to check status of file times.

    -thanx..

You only suggest to create ZIP in WinRAR.
So what problem do you see in 7-Zip?
Please describe all steps to reproduce that problem in 7-Zip.

    ipavlov:

What SFX modules do you compare?
There were no big changes in 7-Zip's SFX modules.

    ipavlov:
I guess it may not be a "problem" with 7-Zip itself… I have certain custom applications which uses file times and low accuracy file times causes a lot of issues.  I archived some "newer" files which were written to fat32 and then brought back onto NTFS, which caused file times to become low precision and windows writes to it are treated as low precision.  I had saved those into a *.7z archive and 7-Zip will decompress them back as low precision and all sort of issues occurred for me.

I hadn't had this issue with WinRAR, and after further testing/investigating, apparently it was able to save files in high precision regardless of its "PREVIOUS" state.

So, I though 7-Zip may have forgotten to add such an option or that it might be an option I did not know about…

Perhaps, I might re-state, that it may be an option/feature you might consider for the future. :-)  :-) and not a bug after all.. :-)

    Thanks…

    ipavlov:
SFX - (1.3.0.1501 - September 7, 2009)

    ;!@Install@!UTF-8!
    ExtractTitle="Извлечение файлов"
    InstallPath="%SystemDrive%"
    ;!@InstallEnd@!

LZMA2  (1.5.0.2485 - May 17, 2012).
