    7-Zip 15.10 beta was released.

    7-Zip for 32-bit Windows:

    http://7-zip.org/a/7z1510.exe

    7-Zip for 64-bit Windows x64:

    http://7-zip.org/a/7z1510-x64.exe

    What's new after 7-Zip 15.09 beta:

    • The BUG in 9.21 - 15.09 was fixed:
7-Zip could ignore some parameters, specified for archive creation operation
for gzip and bzip2 formats in "Add to Archive" window and in command line
      version (-m switch).
    • Some bugs were fixed.

So 15.10 just came out, but it's November, which is the 11th month. Shouldn't it be 15.11?

      Hello Igor,
Thank you for new version of 7-Zip :)

I'm found some strange issue for command line..->
      Please see 2 cases:
1). We are want make archive to mapped network drive and from network drive,
so X:\ and Y:\ - are neworked drives...
      7z.exe a -t7z -r -mx9 -aoa -mf=BCJ2 -spf -scsWIN -w"Y:\" "Y:\arch1.7z" "X:\*"
In this case 7z.exe Don't want working.....

2). We are want make archive to unc path \\comp\f$ and from network mapped drive,
so X:\ - are nework drive...
      7z.exe a -t7z -r -mx9 -aoa -mf=BCJ2 -spf -scsWIN -w"\\comp\f$\" "\\comp\f$\arch1.7z" "X:\*"
In this case 7z.exe is normal working....

      Operating system winsrv2008 r2..

Perhaps it is not so big problem, just small issue..

      Best regards,

      Oleg

There are two network drives and many switches in your case.
        It's too complicated.
Try to find simplest command that doesn't work. Try to reduce the complexity of command - remove additional switches and use only one network drive.

Thanks for new version - think it would make things clearer re what is/is not fixed if you elaborate on the bugs fixed - just few words on each.. john

Some bugs reported here at sourceforge in last month:
      - extracting from solid wim archives worked incorrectly in some cases,
      - the redundant attempt to open archive when there is archive with password inside another archive and entered password is wrong.
      - "Insert" pressing on ".." item in 7-Zip File Manager crashed x64 version.

Also there are some minor changes.
      - 7-Zip can show the name of missing volume for multivolume RAR and VMDK archives.
      - Some internal changes with 7-Zip Benchmark.

Can 7-Zip open multivolume VMDK directly, without extracting a large img file?

    • Igor Pavlov

      Igor Pavlov - 2015-11-02

If 7-Zip can open img inside VMDK, 7-Zip opens it and show files inside img. If 7-Zip can't open img file, then it show that img file only.
If 7-Zip can't open some img inside VMDK, write more details about that img file - what format (file system and so on).

    7z x -y -o"Temp\Net" download\NDP461-KB3088518-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe -x!*.msu -x!*.cab

    Command Line Error:
    Incorrect wildcard type marker
    *.cab

Maybe there is some setting in your system / command shell, that removes '!' character from command line.

'!' is used as a marker for delayed variable expansion.

You could try to escape the exclamation-point (!) with ^ if delayed variable expansion is enabled in your script.

          7z x -y -o"Temp\Net" download\NDP461-KB3088518-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe -x^!*.msu -x^!*.cab

Why stable version is stuck on 9.20?

A new release may be ready soon. Igor wrote in the post below:

So I don't plan to change that code before upcoming release version.

7-Zip seems to be balancing between making the users happy with the existing functionality and introducing new one. Personally, I would be glad to see an alpha with brand new features.

    Hi.
I have two questions about 7-Zip features. Are you going to fix preview of pictures in compressed archive by Windows Photo Viewer?

There's also another disadvantage I noticed few days ago. It fails at the end when I try to unpack compressed and splitted file in situation when there's no one of all part. It just fails. In same situation soft e.g. WinRar asks me to choose next part but it doesn't fails like e.g. 7-ZIp.

Now I don't know simple way to fix jpg problem.
All possible ways require big changes that can break another things work ok now. So I don't plan to change that code before upcoming release version.

There are no internal interfaces in 7-Zip now to handle cases with missing volumes.

oops...Maybe the user can change a different default image viewer so that the images can be opened directly inside 7zFM.

    Выплыло (Far, Mantis#0003111, test.zip в аттаче):

    abelenki

If first local header is not related to first central header, 7-Zip ignores central headers and uses only local headers.

    abelenki

Arclite?

    2useven10
    2015-11-02 13:38

    7z 9.20 -- version.txt
