    KGB Archiver is the compression tool with an unbelievably high compression rate. One of the advantages of KGB Archiver is also AES-256 encryption which is used to encrypt the archives. This is one of the strongest encryptions known for human.

    New features in version 2:

    * PAQ1 - PAQ7 compression algorithms
    * fast encryption algorithm
    * file browser
    * wipe file function (deletes files permanently from hard drive)
    * unicode language support, both for user interface and file names
    * and more!

    See how easily KGB 2 beats 7-zip and all other competition!

    Test data: Calgary Corpus

    Uncompressed data 3068KB 100.0%

    ZIP, Deflate64 Maximum compression 966KB 31.5%
    CAB, Maximum compression 844KB 27.5%
    SQX2.0, ultra compression, dictionary 32MB, solid archive, multimedia & EXE compression 813KB 26.5%
    7zip, ultra compression, solid archive, dictionary 96MB, word size 273B 801KB 26.1%
    RAR, maximum compression, solid archive 737KB 24.0%
    KGB2, PAQ6, normal compression 701KB 22.9%
    KGB1, normal compression 694KB 22.6%
    KGB2, PAQ7, good compression 608KB 19.8%

      "Unbelievably high compression rate..."
      And what about memory usage and speed?

      Can you give me a link to a zip file of "KGB 2"?
      (a version without installation)

      >Worlds highest compression ratio with KGB 2

      This is a lie and you know it. KGB is based on the older PAQ6/PAQ7 engines, while PAQ8 has *much* better compression...

      Is that a joke?
      PAQ1 - PAQ5 are completely obsolete since PAQ6 was released (2004). PAQ6 is almost useless compared to PAQ8, and PAQ7 had a pair of bugs that caused poor compression ratio in some cases.

      This is only config-gui for PAQ. PAQ7 (!) Not PAQ8jc (more "faster" and better ratio).

      But, I am not the "Highlander". I cannot waiting for hours and days. Or/and 99.9% busy my PC for this time.

      This is interesting tech demo of one of the most powerful compressors. Not more. And, I am not see download link ;-) And2: Closed source with (l)gpl compressors. Ergo: stolen technology.

      yeah KGB is a piece of shit.  yeah 2% higher compression then 7zip if you want to sit and watch it compress your files for 10hrs straight...

    • Nobody/Anonymous

      Excist an actual zip version of KGB Archiver - or not?

    • Nobody/Anonymous

      This simple gui WOULD BE interesting to simple compare PAQ (8jc!) to lzma. Not more.

      Open source and 8jc interesting techdemo. "Like that is however not it". Well, its bad! And I do not thrust his internet connecting functions!! The name of the archiver is maybe more better choosed as we think (?!) I dont known. No sources!

      But, for us 7zip junkies: Full unicode support, Igor!

      "Download KGB Archiver
      KGB Archiver 2 is not available yet. There is stable version 1.2.
      File     Size     Operating system
      KGB Archiver 1.2.1.24     1.02MB     Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista
      KGB Archiver 1.2.1.24 source     1.29MB     Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista
      KGB Archiver console 1.0 beta 4 source     52.33KB     Windows/Linux/MacOS X"

      And all your announcements here are really annoying ... announcing
      a not yet present release ...
