    Hi Igor
This possibility has broken many of my scripts.
    • now it shows time and memory usage statistics at the end of execution.

Previously, I analyzed the last line of output to the console window. Sought
there: 'Everything is Ok'. This meant that everything went well.
Now I can not analyze the last line there and look for the text, as statistical information out there now.
1 Can return 'Everything is Ok' on the last line? (after statistical information) ?
2 Is it possible to provide a switch for blocking the output of statistical information ?

    gora2:
I'm still thinking about these statistics lines.
    Possible ways:
    1) always on (now)
    2) on by default (and switch to disable)
    3) off by default (and switch to enable)

Why don't you analyze exit code of program?

And now there are two switches that can disable that stat:
    -slt
    -ba

Found a small glitch. Steps to reproduce:

    1) Go to "Tools -> Options -> 7-Zip tab"
    2) Press Ok or Apply without changing any option

An error message is displayed: "An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers".

My OS is Windows 7 Enterprise x64, and I installed 7z932-x64.msi

    Igor
    "Possible ways:
    1) always on (now)
    2) on by default (and switch to disable)
    3) off by default (and switch to enable)
    "
    Best is 3.

"Why don't you analyze exit code of program?"
    There are two reasons:
    - In the last row I have read out the percentage of the compression and deduce its own in GUI window
    - In version 9.29 alpha change was made that changed the "normal" exit code = 0
(- 7-Zip now displays a warning message if the wrong archive file name extension.)

"And now there are two switches that can disable that stat:
    -slt
    -ba"
Switch "slt" unlikely to be used together with command "a"...
Switch "ba" like works, there details about this switch ?

-bd undocumented switch to disable headers in list command.

    • In version 9.29 alpha change was made that changed the "normal" exit code = 0

    So maybe it's fixed already?

    • gora2

      gora2 - 2013-12-03

1 I asked about the switch "ba" (no "bd")
2 Switch "bd" in internal help:
      -bd: Disable percentage indicator

        it's my mistake.
-ba is undocumented switch to disable headers in list command. The idea was to make the list output simpler for parsing.

    thank you for new release!

    i have a little troubled.
if i use "7z.exe x -pABCD 123456.part1.rar", when i make a mistake the password the exit code is "2" at 9.30.
it becomes "0" at 9.32, even if wrong, even if it matches.

    • rarapl

      rarapl - 2013-12-03

i found some additional information at 9.32.
if zip or 7z password-protected archive, the exit code was "2" when I enter the wrong password.
if rar password-protected archive, the exit code was "0" when I enter the wrong password.

    Thank you, Igor.
Once again, I will check the "exit code".
But my wishes regarding the immutability of the default behavior please note (if possible)

Thanks again for another new release! Keep up the good work Igor!

I do have one question. When I install a new version over an old version, it asks to reboot the computer at the end of the installation. Why is this? Can't 7-zip unload its shell extensions from memory, delete the old files, add the new files, and take care of all that without a reboot being necessary? It would be nice if the installer did not require a reboot. Thanks.

      Shell - 2013-12-05

There is no documented way to force Explorer to unload a shell extension. The only thing 7-Zip can do is to ask the user to close Explorer before installation (or, if the folders are opened in the desktop process, to kill that process entirely). Perhaps, the MSI version can do that on the newer Windows.

There is still very old problem with output described here:
    https://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/discussion/45797/thread/923c9750/

    Very easy to reproduce with 7z x testfile.7z > logfile.txt
Log file is empty as long as 7z works. When quits then suddenly file is full of output text.

It seems that 7z writes log to output stream and do not flush it. Stream is buffered and flush whole text on closing apps.
Why it would be use full to flush after every line? I am using 7z as tool and try to read from output stream what is it doing and display this to user. Now user see nothing and hours later when 7z quits see everything at once. During this time has no idea what is going on (works, crashed, current file, how long it takes, etc.).
I found in internet that many people suffer, because of this.
There is no solution. But to fix this only one line of code is necessary. Flush after printf (or whatever is used).

BTW. Thank you very much for such a great software.

Please check your CAB code in v. 9.32, since it can't expand successfully an MS-ZIPped CABinet that works fine with CabArc 5.2.

      Or upload small example here.

Here you are a CAB with 7z932.exe MS-ZIPped.

What program did you use to create that cab archive?
I suppose that archive doesn't follow mszip specification.

Each MSZIP data block is the result of a complete ‘deflate’ compression operation. Each block is flushed out of the compressor before the next block begins, so the last sub-block in each block will be marked as the ‘end’ of the stream.

cabarc probably just ignores that error.
I've fixed that thing in my code.
          Some related thread:
          http://sourceforge.net/p/sevenzip/bugs/1332/

I used my Python script at https://github.com/maxpat78/PyCabArc, the same cited in the related thread.

In fact, the a.cab stream here begins with a couple compressed CFDATA followed by uncompressed ones: and my tool does not mark such last sub-block with Z_FINISH (it does only for the last block, which seems required by MS Cabarc).

All that I wanted to say is, that official MS tools (and the Windows 8.1 shell is another one...) can successfully expand this kind of CAB, and perhaps 7-zip should, too.

              1) MSZIP doc: so the last sub-block in each block will be marked as the ‘end’ of the stream.
              2) ALL other mszip archives follow that rule.

              Conclusion:
              1) Probably you must fix your cab creation code.
              2) Now I'll keep my current strict decoding code. I can change it, if I see more reasons for that.

Thanks for providing a new version to keep 7-zip alive. However, I do not dare to install an alpha-version of anything. How about creating a Beta newer than 9-22 (at least by renaming an older alpha ;-) ?

Look at my potentially splendid idea:

5 years ago Igor bumped the version number from 4.65 to 9.00, arguing with year 2009, and versions 4.xx having started back in 2004. This caused a lot of feedback ranging form very confused to very angry. What about releasing the next version as 7-ZIP 14.00 superstable ? There are just 20 days until 2014 ;-)
