I have 12 computers where I run bat for archiving. But on two computers, 7z hangs. And on the first computer, 7z began to hang recently. Before that, 7z archived successfully.
I tried different versions: old, current, alpha, 64bit, 32bit.
    bat-file:
    7z.exe a -mx2 D:\Backup1C\m.7z D:\Backup1C\1C_BASE_2\
    or
    7z.exe a -y -mx2 -ssw -bb0 D:\a.7z D:\Backup1C\1C_BASE\
    or
    7z.exe a -tzip -mx2 D:\Backup1C\m.7z D:\Backup1C\1C_BASE_2\

If 7z gangs , 7z.exe can't be closed or killed. It is impossible to turn off the computer - freezes on "Shutting down "

7z hangs on 2 photos below:

d:\ is local volume or network or extranal like usb?
    What file system for d:?
    What Windows version?

Try to simplify bad case situtaion:
    1) -mmt1 to use one process thread
    2) copy files to another folder before archive creation

All drives are local ntfs drives.
    Win7Pro
    I tried "-mmt1"
Backup folder is a copy of original folder.

    7z hangs ((

    add -bb switch.
Try to find smallest file set that still provides failure: 20, 10, 5, 3,2,1 files.

also check RAM with some utility like memtest

    All tests are passed.
    -bb switch dnot help
Now I have 3 Pcs with this problem

    rar.exe a -r e:\Backup1C\dc.rar e:\Backup1C\1C_BASE\ - works fine

      Today rar hangs too.
So it is hard error, not soft I think

    1) Try to find smallest file set that still provides failure: 20, 10, 5, 3,2,1 files.
    2) Try -mmt1 and Zip format instead of 7z format

    I have 2 servers:

    CPU Type QuadCore Intel Xeon E5620, 2400 MHz (18 x 133)
    Motherboard Name Supermicro X8ST3-F/X8STE
Motherboard Chipset Intel Tylersburg X58, Intel Westmere
System Memory 12279 MB (DDR3 SDRAM)
    DIMM1: Kingston 99U5584-022.A00LF 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM
    DIMM3: Kingston 99U5584-022.A00LF 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM
    DIMM5: Kingston 99U5584-022.A00LF 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM

Both of them hangs on 7z or RAR. I think, it happens because MotherBoard not fully support RAM, because RAM is not REG and not ECC. All another programms work fine.

Can you make mode which use minimum RAM (256Mb, 512Mb, 1Gb, 2Gb or 1-100%) ?

If there is RAM hardware failure, the software can not solve it.
Call for 30 iterations of 7-Zip benchmark to test ram:

    7z b 30
