Sea3D takes a giant step forward with this release. Previously, when playing online, if someone dropped from the game, everyone had to exit the game, the host had to reload it and everyone had to rejoin. No longer. Sea3D now has the capability for dropped players to simply reconnect and rejoin immediately, and play continues from the exact spot it was when the player dropped.
Sea3D is an OpenGL implementation of Settlers of Catan, including the Seafarers expansion. It has all maps, including special rules, numerous variants, stats, history, and online play with built-in game finding and ELO ladder ranking. It is available at http://www.settlers3d.net
Yes, that's right, the newest version of Sea3D (which has basic Settlers, all Seafarers maps with special rules, volcanoes, AND jungles) now has a built-in ladder ranking system to go along with a built-in game finder!
With the built-in ladder, Sea3D automatically posts the game data to the S3D Connector website (http://www.s3dconnector.net) and everyone's ladder ratings are automatically updated! This helps to cut down on cheating. Also, since Sea3D allows you to restart games if someone drops, you can KNOW if someone is intentionally quitting if they refuse to rejoin your game. In the future, we will also be working to create an automatic "quitter's list" of people who continually quit ladder games and don't restart.... read more
Sea3D version 1.0.8 adds two new tiles to the popular board games Settlers of Catan! These new tiles, a volcanoe and a jungle tile, each have different properties and are fully described at Mayfair Games' online variants page: http://www.universityofcatan.com/scenarios/scenarios.html
Further improvements to the Connector and some minor bug fixes are also included in this release.
This is the biggest thing to hit Settlers3D in a long time. This release of Sea3D has S3D
Connector technology in it that allows you to find games across the Internet from within
Sea3D itself! Now you can find games at any time from anywhere, even if none of your
friends are online. Sea3D also has an updated rotating cube of fame, which may have YOUR
name on it, if you've submitted a bug report in the past.... read more
In development by Jason Fugate for almost 18 months, S3D (short for Settlers3D) is now generally available as a 1.0 release. This release is the culmination of hundreds of hours of development effort along with incredible testing and support given by dozens of volunteer playtesters. S3D 1.0.0 has been played thousands of times and is as bug-free as can possibly be. All new development will now move to the Seafarers expansion, Sea3D.... read more
I have just finished adding all of the base source code to the CVS tree, except for the AI because I haven't yet figured out how to share files via CVS. However, it is possible to build the main application with what is in the source tree. As I get more and more used to this sourceforge setup, I'll start to flesh out this project page more.
