a configurable filter for the message window would make
it possible to remove common messages nobody really
cares about (i have no example at hand; it's been a time
since i wrote down this item :).

supposedly this already exists - just without a gui. the docu i
was pointed to (15.9 Error messages from external application)
is not too helpful stand-alone, but i guess i could achieve my
goals when i use the existing filters as examples.
