[seq24-users] syncing

Hi

I tried running seq24 (0.8.3 from ubuntu/dapper) together with hydrogen. 
However there were some issues with syncing:

1) It seems I have to set the tempo (40 BPM) in both programs. Shouldn't 
the tempo be set from the master? Will this work with seq24 and other 
programs?

2) Later I reopened the files and now the programs were totally out of 
sync. At approcimately 30 BPM seq24 would run as fast (or slow ) as 
hydrogen which had the correct tempo.

So basically: Is this at all possible? Anyone using seq24 together with 
other note generating programs, and if so which programs and how?

Dear André:

While hydrogen is a nice drum machine, i reccomend you using it just as 
synth. I mean, do your drum loops on Seq24, and use Hydrogen as 
specialized synth for that traks.

That way you can (as i do) use hydrogen, with qSynth and ZynAddSubFx 
together all running under seq24 direction.

I hope i have explained myself the right way.

I use this setup:

                          |               |
Seq24 --> QSynth -----------> Audio 1     |
  |                       |               |
  +-----> ZynAddSubFx ------> Audio 2     |
  |                       |               |
  +-----> Hydrogen ---------> Audio 3     |
                          |               |
                          +---------------+

And works fine for me. As Seq24 generates all the midi events, there are 
no sync problems.
Maybe you have different needs, but it gives me one audio track for each 
synth i use, and once i got that base i work adding more audio.

Ok, thanks. Will this allow you to drive ardours time from seq24?

I like do have the midi stuff running (so not recording them to ardour) 
until the final mix, since that allows me to modify notes anywhere in 
the process...

Dear André. I have never used this feature, but i have seen on seq24 
several references on the options menu to jack sync, so i suppouse that 
is what you need to sync it on an ardour live session.

I supposed that too :-)

I'm brand new to ardour, so maybe the problem lies in getting that to=20
sync up. I'll play a bit more around, and return (hopefully wiser) if my=20
problem persists.
