I have tried the same to start seq24 with my Roland MC-50 sequencer, but
I had no luck. You can sync seq24 to jack-sequencer (and it works very
good!). But I also couldn't find a tool to sync midi with jack-sequencer
(from jack-audio-connection-kit).

You can use seq24 as master midi sequencer. Does pure data have a
jack-sync output? I would be very interested also!
