Without 4suite i don't think you can go far way. It s used for parse with xpath the localized ml menus. Aaaaahhhh, Alessandro, so this could also be the problem on the first page in the Preferences Window where for instance the languages combobox doesn't have any input... And perhaps also for the frozen behaviour of the whole Preferences part. What do you mean exactly? Is language the combobox empty? Can you take a look at the getAvailLanguageFile method of common.py = file? P.s. Can you also try with the latest cvs version to save a project = again? Yes, the combobox is totally empty, even with 4Suite installed. No improvement! Still the same behaviour. Actually tooltips do not work at all in SEPY at the moment, I just noticed! Also trying just one other page than page 1 doesn't work... Yes I could try that. Where and what do I have to change in the source so

That's what I also just tried. And it's in this sort of line, because with
the replacement line it works!!!
I've tried this replacement also on other pages and all elements were
accessible and modifyable.
Also the languages are now filled into the combobox on page 1.
So would it be possible to let these StaticBoxSizers away and just use
BoxSizer ?

Also, I notice, that installing python 2.3.4 in the suggested way, does not replace the built in version, but instead, it gets installed in a separate directory. So when accessing python via terminal, one gets the regular system version, in my case 2.3 to access the updated version I have to type "/usr/local/bin/python" at the terminal.
