Should have realised, but just to make it clear, things will break if you upgrade your version of MySQL, and don't rebuild a new RPM against the new version of MySQL from source.
If you upgrade MySQL, download my SRPM, and do an "rpm -i <srpm name>", then
"rpm -bb <spec file from /usr/src/redhat/SPECS>".
Then install the resultant RPM, then everything will be funky.
