Ok, this is very ticky-tack and the only reason I'm posting is to possibly
help someone with the same issue in the future.
Our MediaWiki:common.js contains:
'/common/ExtraButtons/Extraeditbuttons.js' + '"></script>');
While this is acceptable in MediaWiki, in SF Special:UploadWindow, the
</script> is being interpreted as a script termination tag (instead of text)
in IE8 (that I know of).
The solution is simple, but it took a while to diagnose the problem:
'/common/ExtraButtons/Extraeditbuttons.js' + '"><"/'+'script>');
By separating the </script> tag into two different segments, the
parser/browser is no longer interpreting as a valid end of script tag.
