Dear Semantic Wiki developers and users, We are looking for your *horizontal* experiences with Semantic Wiki, i.e., building domain-independent tools and applications on Semantic MediaWiki, in the upcoming 5th session in the Semantic Wiki Mini series (Feb 12, 2009, Thursday). Example of horizontal (general-purposed and domain-independent) methodologies, tools and applications for semantic wiki include (but not limited to): * design patterns * ontology management * visualization * data mesh-up * workflow * access control, privacy protection * performance optimization * best practices, tricks, lessons Each invited presentation is expected to be about 10-15 minutes. If you would like to present something in the upcoming 5th semantic wiki mini-series, please do the following 1. send us a short mail at (ba...@cs...) with the following information ASAP. 1a. the title of presentation 1b. an abstract indicating the highlights and coverage of your presentation 2. we will selectively invite your presentations. The selected presentation slides are due on Feb 10 (Tuesday). [New!] We also accept lighting talks with 1 slides and 3 minutes. Details of previous sessions can be found here: http://ontolog.cim3.net/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?SemanticWiki best, Jie Bao and Li Ding |

Hm, Feb 12 is a bit early for me (I'm trying to execute UML class & state diagrams on the SMW/SF platform using a separate "uml/xmi 2 smw code generation" tool). I find it promising to try combine the best of two worlds - data in part directed by fixed structure topped with free thought and associations. In other words, it seems meaningful to combine "hard structure" and "soft tissue" also for collecting information. (that is, UML modeled "backbone" data structure combined with free text with semantic annotations in the free text). Although the tool is in a very early development, I hope to be able to prove that entire sites with complex data structures generated directly from UML models (including "stray classes" useful in encyclopedias) can be executed efficiently on the SMW/SF platform. But probably not before Feb 12. // Rolf Lampa PS: Testing the concepts here: http://test.rilnet.com/wiki/Main_Page (Click also [[Site info]] for more detail and daily logs. Soon I'll switch over to playing around with a more meaningful model, the current one is useful only for testing of some common uml model elements and modeling practices) > Example of horizontal (general-purposed and domain-independent) > methodologies, tools and applications for semantic wiki include (but > not limited to): > * design patterns > * ontology management > * visualization > * data mesh-up > * workflow > * access control, privacy protection > * performance optimization > * best practices, tricks, lessons > > Each invited presentation is expected to be about 10-15 minutes.
