Hi everyone, As of a few weeks ago, I'm now working full-time for a company called Genesys: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genesys_(company) They're a large company, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I'll be working for them remotely, from home, though. The group I'm joining at Genesys makes extensive use of MediaWiki, including some of my extensions like Page Forms and Cargo. (The name may sound familiar to you because a few of them have attended some MediaWiki-related events in the past, like this year's EMWCon.) They're now pushing to increase usage of this software within the company as a whole, which would be exciting if it pans out. I was looking for a little while to move on from WikiWorks, my MediaWiki consulting company, because I no longer wanted to handle all the administrative aspects of consulting, like sending out invoices. But rest assured that WikiWorks is continuing, and is now being run by Ike Hecht, who has been the main WikiWorks consultant for some time now. He has not been that active in the "community", i.e. on mailing lists and conferences and the like, but he plans to take a more active role now that he's a leader at WikiWorks - we both plan to attend EMWCon next spring, for instance. I will still be a member of WikiWorks, but now mostly in an advisory role, and to provide some occasional help when needed. I don't know what effect this will have on my MediaWiki development work, but hopefully a positive one, since now I will be doing extension development and maintenance as part of my actual job, rather than as (for the most part) an unpaid hobby. On the other hand, my development priorities will be mostly guided by the priorities of my employers, so a lot depends on which extensions and features they need the most. However, so far the features we've discussed (and that I've worked on) are ones that I think a lot of people might find useful. -Yaron |
