+Welcome to the SemaVis Wiki!

SemaVis was developed within a couple research projects with the main goal visualization the semantics in data of an enhanced information gathering. The design strongly focused on the upcoming of the Semantic Web. At the early years most researchers only focused on the data handling, but neglecting the aspect of visualizing the data for a human access and furthermore to really be able to work with the data.

Over years a substantial framework, written in Adobe Flex, was growing and beside a couple scientific outcomes also the technical results had amazing success. However, with the HTML5 the era of a modern web standard began, which enables similar function for creating great web-application, but without the need of an additional required Flash-Player. Even more the further industrial and research focus changed, so that the SemaVis Flash-version loses priority. Indeed the system is powerful and is still a great technology to visualize data in particular in the research domain, so that was the reason why we started to provide more and more pieces under Open Source license. This gives researches and other interested people the chance to visualize data with a powerful tool and gives the SemaVis Flash-version maybe a second life.

-This wiki aims to explain how the system and its component play together and even more it should give some instructions how to bring the source running.
