#1 ..\msw\notebook.cpp(248) assert failed

Upon installing with python 1.5.2 and other recommends (wx, pxml), when trying "new" from the file
menu, I get this message "..\msw\notebook.cpp(248) assert failed: notebook page out of range" -
then the offer to ignore or quit. If I keep going, nothing will work without the hourglass/wait cursor
remaining indefinitely - e.g., I did load a document but then couldn't "do" anything b/c of this
condition.
