For me, the message "the form still contains 1 error" only happened on the second time I clicked on the button. The first time the form did not do anything in the UI. The second time the local file was gone, therefore the message was displayed.
The solution for me was in this thread: https://sourceforge.net/p/seeddms/discussion/general/thread/bf8be4c8e3/ to disable large file uploads.

You are probably missing a required field.
