As we decided on having a glossary, here are the terms which I propose to define. Suggestions for the definitions so far are included. Discussion is open. SIMULATION - an experiment performed on a model [Cellier 1991] EXPERIMENT - a test under controlled conditions that is made to examine the validity of a hypothesis, or determine the efficacy of something previously untried. [American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition] - the process of extracting data from a system by exerting it through its inputs [Cellier 1991] MODEL - A model M for a System S and an Experiment E is everything to which E can be applied in order to answer questions about S [Cellier 1991] - a set of mathematical equations and associated data representing the operation or features of a biological process or system (Ref?) MIASE - Minimum Information About a Simulation Experiment MIASE-COMPLIANT - a simulation description that follows the MIASE guidelines FULLY MIASE-COMPLIANT (well, here we have to see whether or not we want different levels of MIASE-compliance) |
