> > http://securityfusion.sourceforge.net > > Feedback, please !!! > > [ ] ´s > ----------------------------------------------- > Richardson Lima > www.gprt.ufpe.br/~richardson <http://www.gprt.ufpe.br/~richardson> ( My > $public_html ) > http://securityfusion.sourceforge.net > (Security Fusion intrusion detection system) > > Position: Security System Administrator > Location: Networking and Telecommuncations Research Group > Federal University of Pernambuco > Informatics Center, Brazil > > P.O. That Richardson himself did the coding process? No, most of the code was write by the Hogwash team, lead by Jason Larsen, and the some more code writing was done by the HLBR team, lead by Eriberto Mota and Andre Bertelli. The SF project is growing through the HLBR code. > I was looking for through the its source code, I got see his code is with > several #ifdef, thus leaving the code a little bad for reading it, we could > to get eliminating them, The use of macro preprocessing is justified by the perfformace gain. It removes all the code that can't be used by a OS. Like the #ifdef LINUX ... #endif, we just don't want the packets been verified against a solaris packet type, cause at linux doesn't exists solaris packet type. Other use is for debug. We, the HLBR team, don't think that would be cost-effective having a -b cl option to have debug output enable and having to do something like if (debug) { /* Some code */ } all along the source code. That was our design decision. But the SF team may think different, so your points may be plausible. Besides, having a preprocessor debug flag is more effective cause we may have just a code portion debbuged. hey all, Richardson has invited me into securityfusion project within the goal to get new stuffs, patches, and so on. Although, I am ready to start programming through it, however, that project has been done for Richardson only, it sounds like fine :-) I was looking for through the its source code, I got see his code is with several #ifdef, thus leaving the code a little bad for reading it, we could to get eliminating them, its not just the #ifdef, set up something like making beyond which the source code is there. so I requested to Richardson doing the securityfusion web page most useful for we may get easier than the current overviewer. whether I am doing something like an english so bad, please let me know :) I will fix it. It has an executable memory size of about 50 kB[1]. While it can be used as a simplified replacement to more feature-rich servers, it is uniquely suited to service high volume requests for static data—for example as an image hosting server. The first "t" in thttpd stands for variously tiny, turbo, or throttling.

thttpd has a bandwidth throttling feature which is not present in other open source web server software such as Apache (although throttling is available as an add-on module for Apache). This feature enables the server administrator to limit the maximum bit rate at which certain types of files may be transferred. For example, the administrator may choose to restrict the transfer of JPEG image files to at most 20 kilobytes per second. This prevents the connection from becoming saturated so that the server will still be responsive under heavy load, with the tradeoff that file transfer speed is reduced.

Sites using thttpd include demon.net, bluelight.com, mtv.com, The Drudge Report, garfield.com and others.

http://zibet.net/comp/thttpd.html
http://xoomer.alice.it/adefacc/httpd/thttpd/
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/web/library/wa-ltwebserv/

Comparison of web server software
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_web_servers

* *http://www.acme.com/software/thttpd/thttpd_man.html#THROTTLING* * thttpd is an open source software web server from ACME Laboratories, designed for simplicity, a small execution footprint and speed. thttpd is single-threaded and portable: it compiles cleanly on most Unix-like operating systems, including FreeBSD, SunOS 4, Solaris 2, BSD/OS, Linux, and OSF/1. Sites using thttpd include demon.net, bluelight.com, mtv.com, The Drudge Report, garfield.com and others. http://zibet.net/comp/thttpd.html http://xoomer.alice.it/adefacc/httpd/thttpd/ http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/web/library/wa-ltwebserv/ *Comparison of web server software *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_web_servers 2008/11/4 Fábio J. Excelente idéia!
