I am proud to announce that the 1.3.0 (daiga) release of the Basic Analysis and Security Engine (BASE+) is now available from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/baseplus This release comes after five months of enormous amounts of effort. Improvements which I would like to highlight: * does not depend on external ADOdb library, since minimum code is integrated into BASE+ * do not need to edit base_conf.php by hand - all can be done using new configuration graphical user interface In this release we fully support one more database backend - IBMDB2 (since snort-2.6 supports it) and finnaly Oracle has been fully supported. PDF and XLS report generation code by Mordread Wallas has been implemented. Also in this release authentication code has been audited and hardened. The full CHANGELOG is available in the release tarball. I would also like to welcome new team members and thank the departed ones for all of their hard work ;]. Thanks again Nikns Siankin --------------------- BASE+ Project Lead http://baseplus.sourceforge.net The next two steps in IDS analysis! |

A couple of comments on the new release: 1) " * does not depend on external ADOdb library, since minimum code is integrated into BASE+ " If so, then perhaps $DBlib_path =3D $BASE_path . '/adodb/'; should be removed from base_conf.php 2) " * do not need to edit base_conf.php by hand - all can be done using new configuration graphical user interface " But there is no base_conf.php in the distribution - still base_conf.php.dist and just renaming/copying to base_conf.php did not work for me as $BASE_urlpath needs to be set correctly to get the correct link to the Configuration page. But I do like the new Configuration page options! Bruce -----Original Message----- From: sec...@li... [mailto:sec...@li...] On Behalf Of nikns Sent: Thursday, August 31, 2006 1:53 AM To: sno...@li... Well if you don't need it (ADODB), then you don't need it (the conf entry). I am assuming that "does not depend on" means that BASE now does not use it. Nikns, First, congrats on finally getting a release out. I hope you are successful and enjoy the work of a project lead. I would appreciate it if you stopped posting to these lists regarding BASE+. I accepted the postings for the release because I didn't have a problem with them. But I have to insist that you take other conversations off list. SF has provided you with the ability to set up support lists within the project you decided to fork, please use them. As you move forward with your project, feel free to submit those announcements here if you would like, but I ask that you make it clear that you are in no way associated with the BASE project and were actually removed from this project due to the incident that I don't feel the need to rehash now. Thanks in advance, Kevin --------------------- GCIA, GCIH, CEH BASE Project Lead http://base.secureideas.net The next step in IDS analysis! |
