    Hi,

I have some Mac users who get "Error Loading Page" when starting SEB.

Some have passed the training session but when they try again they get this message.

One of the students is on 11.1 Big Sur.

    Regards

For a student after the upgrade to version 11.2.3 it is functional.

Same problem for me. As a Mac user I cannot even see all the Tabs.
I cannot access to the seb configuration tool. What can be the issue?

Please be more specific. Which macOS version are you using? If you already are on macOS 11 Big Sur, did you update to the latest version macOS 11.2.3?

The Mac version doesn't have a "SEB Configuration Tool". Do you mean the Preferences window? If allowed in the used settings, you can press cmd + , (comma key) to open the Preferences window (that's a default macOS key shortcut). You can also hold the option/alt key when starting SEB 2.3 for Mac, then the Preferences window is displayed and you can open and edit SEB config files.

See this thread for more information: https://sourceforge.net/p/seb/discussion/844844/thread/c270314647/

Some users (and us) observed SEB 2.3 loading indefinitely when started the first time, but when they quit and start it again, it works.

SEB 2.3 is using the new built-in macOS single app/lockdown/kiosk mode called Assessment Mode or AAC, which is more secure. It might be that it isn't compatible with some software (see below) or still has issues, which Apple would need to fix in macOS updates though. You can switch AAC off in your exam settings.

It may be that anti-malware software or additional third party software, which would be scanning the internet traffic for malware could cause such issues, as the new Assessment Mode prevents all other software besides SEB and the operating system from accessing the network during the exam. So it might help to disable such anti-malware or network protection third party software before starting SEB.

    Hi guys,

A client from us used the safe exam browser quite a lot! For some reason, however, she cannot longer start the SEB, i.e. she can'tconfigure any new exams in the SEB Configuration Tool. When she starts the SEB, it always goes directly to an exam in the secure SEB mode and then she has to enter the password to exit the SEB environment.

Currently she is using the following versions on her MAC:
    - MacOS Big Sur, 11.2.3
    - SEB 2.3.2

Thanks in advance for you help!

    Hi,

It seems that the SEB client has been configured with a .seb file so that it automatically start an exam.

Did you uninstall and reinstall the seb client on the Mac?
Or use basic seb file to reconfigure client app ?

    Thanks

I guess the client applied some configuration to the client, which she doesn't have the SEB administrator password for. Or she disabled the setting "Allow to open preferences window on client".

As the previous post suggests, a basic SEB file (saved with the option for "Configuring a client" in the Config File tab) might help, although before reconfiguring SEB will ask for the SEB admin password in the current settings.

But what you want is to reset SEB:
    - Read the manual https://safeexambrowser.org/macosx/mac_usermanual_en.html
    - Or do a full text search in the manual for "reset". The fourth hit is this:

In the rare case you would have a problem with the local client settings of a client computer, for example if SEB crashes after starting, you should try to reset the local client settings. Since OS X 10.9 Mavericks this isn't possible by just deleting the org.safeexambrowser.Safe-Exam-Browser.plist file from the Preferences folder, because macOS caches those preferences. Instead use the command defaults delete org.safeexambrowser.Safe-Exam-Browser from the Terminal app shell. Then you should be able to start SEB again, as local settings are reset to the default values (there will be a message displayed indicating that local client settings were reset when you start SEB).

Please note that we might take some time to answer trivial questions which can be found by checking out the manual, as we don't have enough resources for developing and providing 24/7 support (as SEB is a free product). Thank you for your understanding.
